Good looking beer: a slightly hazy brown body with some red tint, covered by a big beige head. Interesting spiced cake aroma with banana and citrus zest, maple and caramel, and plenty of yeast character. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly fruity, with some caramel and nutty malt. The finish is mild to moderately bitter with some spicy hops, dry, and a bit light. The body is light and airy. this one definitely benefits from warming up a bit and releasing some of its ample carbonation. Mixing the yeast in adds some more complex, nutty, woody flavors. A bit subtle, but I really warmed up to this by the end. Dubbel is a style that I don*t drink too often, but it*s what started me on Belgians in the beginning, and its always nice to find a new, solid example of the style. Pours a dark brownish-amber color with a thin beige head that disapates quickly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Dried fruit and light chocolate in the nose, with a touch of hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with a faint nutty character, and flavors of fruit, chocolate and malt. The finish is lightly spiced with a malty aftertaste that lingers awhile. An above average dubbel that I would recomend.
