Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 3, 2006 A hazy deep red beer with a thick light orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also a light dusy straw note of hops. The flavor is sweet malty again with caramel being strongest, combined with a boring note of spices and brown sugar, as well as a light note of smoke. The end is dry with a light note of wood. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 18, 2007 (Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, brownish with a beige head leaving some laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit and some yeast. Medium body, lightly sweetish roasted malt. Fruity - also some dried fruit notes and a whiff of yeast and diacetyl. Slightly earthy tang but not enough to spoil the pleasure. 180607 omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 23, 2004 Bottled. Mahogany colour. Sweet and nutty, some caramel. The mouthfeel is clean and straightforward, flavours are relatively restrained. Short grassy finish. Earlier Rating: 1/4/2002 Total Score: 3.5 Burgundy. Dry, medium bodied, bitter. Yeasty, but not complex enough for the style. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 22, 2008 75 cL bottle, thanks to Storm. Pours hasy brown with a lacing white head. Spiced caramel malt aroma. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Nov 21, 2000 Updated: Jul 2, 2008Allagash Dubbel Cloudy light brown colour. Aroma of bubblegum and raisin, brown sugar. Sweet palate with toasty, raisiny character and dark chocolate. Balanced, soft but uninteresting. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 25, 2007 Corked bottle; batch #55 Hazy dark brown color. The aroma is a bit nutty and corky. The flavor has a quite good mix of caramel with some malt and roasted malt, stronger character than the average Belgian Dubbel; the yeast as well seems to be Belgian. Quite Belgian, quite good.
