| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2007 This dark brown ale poured with a lacy tan head, eliciting a strong malty aroma. The malty flavor is very pleasantly laced with chocolate, toffee and cloves, with a long dry finish. I really like this one. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 26, 2006 A compact tan head holds as a thick skin above a deep, burgundy-tinted, tea-colored body. Faint carbonation shows near its edges. "Dunkelweizen" is my first impression as malty-banana aromas emerge with a musty sourness. Lively mouth with a yeast-laden flavor that settles sour and dry. Well-made but wholly unimpressive.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2004 Batch # 38 – This beer presents a copper body with orange hues and a full rocky light tan head. The aroma is sweet ripe fruit, plums, and caramel. The flavor is roasted nutty malt with only a little bit of sweetness. There is a slightly harsh astringency that develops about mid-swallow. The finish however is pleasing. Medium dry body with a long lingering roasted finish. Not nearly as good as the Tripel. Earlier Rating: 11/5/2003 Total Score: 3 Hazy ruby color. Very quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is almost like a brown ale. Nuts and roasting orange rind are predominant. Flavor is also a lot like a brown ale, but has a more yeasty complexity to it. The aftertaste is almost exactly like a brown. I am confused. Somewhat sweet and more hoppy then expected. Body is medium and the finish is fairly dry. Overall not bad, but this beer is very confused as to its style, in fact so I am. iowaherkeye (1895), Los Angeles, California, USA

Bitter finish, some alcohol warmth in there as well. Creamy mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Soft carbonation. Pretty good beer. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
