Batch 70. Not too impressed. Large, creamy, light-brown head. Opaque dark brown body. Head has good retention and some lacing. Aroma is a bit weeek, but has floral and yeasty notes with a bit of brown sugar. Taste is pretty salty and sour with a spicy note at the end. Not the easiest thing to drink as it felt dry and fizzy (those combined with the spiciness felt like it was burning my tongue).

Dark iced tea colored pour with a ruby highlight and a large 3 finger off-white head. Subtly toasty caramel nose with some faint grass, dark fruit and cedar. Flavor is as equally subtle as the aroma with hints of caramel, almond, vanilla, dates, and cocoa. Medium body with a soft carbonation and a tad watery finish. Definitely a tasty and drinkable beer for being a high-po Belgian but it just seems to be lacking in body and flavor.

This dark amber, near brown, dubbel wears a thin tan head, and carries notes of caramel amid a woodsy earthy background. Plenty of balanced malt, not too sweet, real smooth. A fine dubbel.

I’m getting lots of malt. Some cherry. Sweetness. Even a bit of chocolate. "Should I open another?" I asked the wife. "Is it a bomber?" she asked. "Yes." "Then do it." And so this was opened.

Pours a murky brown typical of the style with very little head (surprising considering the amount of pressure the Reserve is under). Aroma has some belgian funk, and definitely some candi sugar, but it is also apparent that this is not your traditional Dubbel. Very delicious with lots of chocolate and bubbliness. Finishes surprisingly dry, especially for the style. Not at all unenjoyable. Different, not what I was expecting, but awesome. I want to find another bottle of this to lay down and see how much better it is in a few years.
