COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Dubbel Reserve boasts a dark malty taste. The finish is dry with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts. With time, Allagash Dubbel Reserve will mature in the bottle and acquire distinctive port and sherry characteristics.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [12 oz. bottle] Dark amber/brown color with a thin tan head. Sweetness, yeast, biscuit and some plum in the aroma. Initial taste was sweet and spicy with a yeasty backbone and slightly bitter yet metallic finish. Possibly a bad batch?

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy deep copper, light brown color with a him tan head. Aroma is a light toasty malt with hints of yeast. Flavor is sweet, yeasty, toasty, and spicy. Light to medium in body with a lasting yeast taste. Decent beer, but not my favorite from allagash.

Pours deep orange, half finger thin head good lacing. Aroma is malty, bready and doughy, some fruit, dark raisin, fig, cherry, toffee and caramel sweetness. Taste doughy, bready malt, tart dark fruit, little bit of caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, medium carbonation, no alcohol presence, fruity finish. Overall, tasty, nothing special, not complex or robust, would not seek this out.

Enjoyed on tap as part of the pre brewery tour sampler at Allagash in Portland, ME. Appearance is a dark maple brown, slightly clear, with a rich slightly off white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is light nut, light Belgian ale yeast, also light with dark plum. Taste is exceptional, has a light chocolate profile with subtle nuttiness, really great stuff.

Draft at Moriartys for an Allagash event. Tulip. Hazy copper pour with a tight foamy head. Nice mix of dark caramel and red fruit. Plums. Raisins. Toffee. Some drying spice. Less malty and sweet than traditional Dubbels but also has a higher ABV which goes down smooth.

Toffee, light fruits, Carmel. Malty body with light hoppy finish. Like a little bit more of fruits in the dubble but not too bad. Drinks almost like a scotch ale it’s so malt dominant.

Thanks for the share, OmegaX. This was a good example of a dubbel - lots of sweet flavors and a fruity-spice esque in the background. There is no doubt this would age quite nicely, just another great job by Allagash.

A nice dubbel. Aroma is caramel, bread, tons of fruity character and yeast. Flavor is the same, on the sweeter side. Not bad.

I enjoyed this well enough. Nice yeast and fruit character. The only fault is that it is a little thin.

From a 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a cloudy amber with a fine off white head. Aroma of caramel and Belgian yeast. Flavors of caramel, bread and hints of roasted nuts. Mellow aftertaste.

Pours medium brown and slightly red with a decent off-white head. Nose is typical for the style and a touch weak, with brown sugar, caramel, apples, and a touch of bread. Flavor is quite rich a bit bready for a dubbel; hops are also somewhat sharp, as is the carbonation. The usual sugar and fruit expected from abbeys is present but not in-your-face. Finish is fairly long, sticky, and a touch hoppy. Solid example of the style.
