COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash had the honor of hosting De Struise Brouwers Brewmaster Urbain Coutteau and his co-workers Carlo Grootaert, Phil Driessens and Peter Bruin along with the "Homebrew Chef" Sean Paxton of homebrewchef.com on August 29. The Brewers with our Brewmaster, Jason Perkins collaborated on a Belgium Blonde called Fedeltá which means Fidelity in Italian. De Struise had previously brewed a version of this beer at their farm brewery in Belgium. After collaborating strategically over e-mail, phone and in person on brew day, the five brewers were able to put all their hard work into a great brew. Fedeltá, 8.2% Blonde was brewed using a selection of imported Pilsner Malt, Domestic Pale Malt as well as 15% Wheat Malt. American Cascade and Amarillo Hops were also selected resulting in 35 IBU. Also added in the boil was Cane Sugar and Honey. Fedeltá was fermented with our house Belgian-style strain, producing a subtle ester profile. The result is a smooth beer with subtle flavors of spice, honey, and vanilla as well as citrus hop flower notes. Fedeltá will be available in limited markets, draft only in the fall.

At Max’s belgian Fest. A bit disappointing, but I did finish it! Big and wet drink, strong vanilla and bread. Sweet from fruit and sugar. Just a bit off.

Tap at blind tiger. Poured a cloudy golden amber with a thin head. Light nose with some Belgian yeast. Nice spicy and extremely drinkable. Honey and hop notes lead the front. Delicious sweet and malty finish with no hint of the 8.2 abv. Dangerously sessionable.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a clear golden copper with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is malt, bread notes, wheat notes, with vanilla, clove, herb, and banana detectable as well. Taste was roughly the same, with doughy malt up front dissolving into a wonderful symphony that evoked vanilla, clove, coriander, banana, herbs, and Belgian yeast. The finish is exceptional with a barely there hop bite right at the end. Incredibly smooth.

draft at Tria: pours a slightly cloudy golden color with little head, aroma of malt, clove, banana, taste is the same, reminds me of farmhouse style beers from Dupont but not on the same level.

On tap at Novare Res. Pours a golden cloudy color with a good size white foamy head. Reminded me of the triple, but a bit more sting up front and a hint of the amarillo hops. The finish has a bit of alcohol burn. Not as good as i expected, it’s almost a little too subtlely flavored.

Draught @ BTAH. Pours a hazy gold, white head. Nose stays underneath; some yeast, bit of apricot, a bit grassy. Taste is sweet up front, more apricot, but balanced from the beginning by the yeast and a fresh grassy hoppiness that carries just a hint of barnyard funk with it, coupled with a dry, light malt sweetness. Finish is interesting, bit yeasty and rich, with some sweet fruity esters, and a a lingering grassy bitterness that takes a bit to emerge after every sip. I even got a hint of white grapes later in the glass. Ever changing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a sparkling carbonation. Aspects of a nice, crisp blonde and a saison, all with a bit more oomf. Fantastic.

On draft at Capones. Pours a clear gold colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of pine, honey, citrus, and floral hops. Flavour is the same as the aroma but rather weak. Also, there is a yeasty flavour present in addition to the pine, citrus, honey and hops. Average, at best.

Trippel like nose: spice, banana, pepper, slight toast and orange. Light gold, medium body. Flavor is fruity, notes of pear, honey, sugar, vanilla, slight toast and biscuit and earth. On tap at Allagash night at the Toronado, SF.
