750 ml bottle from the brewery. Ommegange chalice shows a hazy gold color and thick soapy full head. Lots of lacing down the glass. Smell is mostly with Belgian yeast with light pepper. Medium body, grainy, Yeasty with a lot of pepper. Yet the pepper isn’t over bearing. It’s a compliment. Light floral hops without much bitterness. Not really complex yet still pretty tasty. Still very nice to try.

Bottle. Wasn't sure how I'd feel about peppercorns brewed in my beer, but Allagash did a great job with this one. Not too prominent, adds great depth.

Draught @ Brickstore. Really delicate brew with subtle floral tones. It's been a while since I tried a fluxus and I really enjoyed this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11 ounce goblet - $8.75 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Hazed, pale golden body with a half-inch of finely-textured, white foam fed by thin but steady bubble streams.

Smell: Sugary influences atop notes of pils malts, spelt, with very light touches of craggled grain. Floral-type hints along with the peppercorn hints. A bit of alcohol. Unripened pears, apples.

Taste: Bolstered pilsner-like maltiness, though I’m told spelt (forgot about him, didn’t ya?) is also present. Some grainy touches, a goodly pinch of table sugar. Floral, spicy augmentations from the added peppercorns aided, one would imagine, by the pilfered yeast strain, maybe a bit by the alcohol. Orchard fruitiness, something a little lemony as it warms. Crispish, malty, dry finish with a hint of alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: It’s okay. I liked it, didn’t love it.

750ml from Sam’s, Durham. I love this brewery but it’s hard not to be a bit overly critical of their big bottles given the price point. Case in point with this year’s Fluxus, which I had high hopes for. A brightly golden, heavily carbonated, Duvel-looking brew. So, off to a good start. Nose is a bit by-the-numbers, though, with grains and just the faintest hint of the pepper. Lively mouthfeel, quite enjoyable there. But I found the taste to be a little disappointing, with a sort of generically herbal quality that reminded me of some of the imperial wits one tries every now and again, and little of the specifically peppercorn flavors that I craved (as with Brewers Art). Not a bad beer, by any stretch, but just not the beer I wanted.

Pours a cloudy gold with a thin white head that doesn’t leave lacing. The aroma has subtle hints of peppercorn. The taste is very Belgian Wit esque. It is quite smooth and drinkable at the 7.7%. Pretty tasty!

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear golden with a decent off-white head and a sour malt aroma. There is a medium-bodied light malt flavor with a noticeable peppery characteristic.
