on tap at Duckworths (NC)
Pour is golden, lightly hazy, with a moderate size off-white head that is exceptionally durable and leaves fine lacing.
Clear Belgian yeasty note in both tasting and the aroma. After a minute of adjustment to the initially unpleasant but limited Brett.
M: very smooth with ample soft carbonation.
O: American version of this Belgian style that exaggerates the Belgian features. I found this slightly challenging.

Draught. Pours light clear yellow with s good initial head. aroma is sweet apples and pears with skins, baking spices, a good bit of pepper. Flavor is light fruit juice sweet with the pepper and bitterness really kicking in and carrying through. Juicy thick lively mf with and astringent end like very light szechuan peppercorns. Really nice. Seems a trippel to me.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a clean and clear bright straw gold with one finger of tight and creamy white head. Nose is nice, some earthy yeast notes and bread dough with a touch of peppery esters. Some soft stone fruits come through in the aroma with a touch of sweetness. Wonderful flavor with a dry and peppery character on the finish. Zesty and crisp on the finish with a wonderful supporting yeast character. I really enjoyed this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Milltown as part of Allabash event. Full pour. Light hazy golden with a steady fizzy white head. Nose is light esters, pepper, bread. Flavor is similar--really expected the pink peppercorn to stand out more but kinda had to sleuth for it. Some light herbal character, light spice, but overall just a relatively easy drinking dry Belgian ale which Allagash always does very well. Not terribly exciting, but refreshing.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
An anniversary beer I have not kept up as I should have. His years version is pretty tasty. Spicey with some love and pepper. Dark yellow cloudy color with a big white head. Some banana and chewy grain. Finish is a little rubbing alcohol and a touch off. The rest of the beer comes together well though.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: lightly hazed golden pour with two fingers of white head and decent lacing; gets increasingly murky closer to the bottom of the bottle. Aroma: a bit like a yeasty, doughy, herb garden, with definite hints of sage and peppercorns, and even a rumor of brett funk (although I think this is brett-free). Taste: yeasty, with some honey, ritz crackers, a bit of saison-like barnyard funk, with some nice herbal earthiness. Finish: surprisingly dry and zesty, with a subtle yet present peppery heat . Notes: Looked great, smelled awesome, and tasted better. Grabbed this on a whim, thinking "I’ve never had anything bad from them". So glad I snagged it.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour on tap, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of lots of pepper, slight grainy notes with lots of Belgian yeast notes, slight vanilla, hints of fruit, lemon, touch of floral notes into a hint of oaky notes. Taste is a mix of lots of pepper, mixing into the yeast, slight ester notes with pear, touch of grape, hints of oak in there somehow with a touch of biscuit and bread, finishing sweet. Didn’t really work well for me unfortunately.

750 ml bottle from the brewery. Ommegange chalice shows a hazy gold color and thick soapy full head. Lots of lacing down the glass. Smell is mostly with Belgian yeast with light pepper. Medium body, grainy, Yeasty with a lot of pepper. Yet the pepper isn’t over bearing. It’s a compliment. Light floral hops without much bitterness. Not really complex yet still pretty tasty. Still very nice to try.
