BeerandBlues2 (2510), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear dark yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, straw, meal), average hops (flowers, perfume), average yeast (horse blanket, earth) with notes of alcohol, bubble gum, and pears. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours a transparent deep bronze golden with a well-lacing dense froth of off-white head. Has a sweet caramely floral nose with a touch of honey and yarrow. Body starts with good fullness and sweet biscuity Belgian malt with a spicy, earthy rooty flavor that provides a bitter balance, before a doughy yeasty finish with some alcoholic warmth. An interesting and fairly complex brew. JB175 (1356), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 29, 2008 Golden color with a spicy aroma dominated by citrus and a whole spice rack. Flavor is excessively spicy, and dominates all else to its detriment. This one was ruined for me by being excessively spiced. Interesting, but excessive. Thomas_E (5065), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 5, 2008 Hazy golden, orange colour with a white head. Malty, fruity aroma with notes of band aid. malty, winegum sweet flavor. Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2008 Cloudy golden-orange colour. The aroma is herbal, spicy (mint, chamomile, cinnamon) and toasty with breadcrusty malts and rye. Huge herbal character - must be the yarrow - with lots of chewy rye, full maltiness. Big and rounded with a peppery finish. Very unique, well-balanced brew with accents of both Belgium and gruit. Impressive effort, muddled only by a slighlty overt yeastiness.
