4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 udflyerfan07 (173) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - MAY 7, 2010
On draught at Chappy’s Taproom in Dayton, OH. Poured an amber hazy color. Aroma of apple/spice. Tons of flavor and high alcohol content. Best beer I had on the night. Highly recommended.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 omhper (15600) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2010
Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Lightly hazy copper colour, small head. Vinous and highly caramelly. Sweet and full bodied with clean, dense, rounded mouthfeel. Warming, brady and toffeeish with notes of cherry brandy and white pepper. Gets a bit syrupy and thick. The sweetness is more evident here than in most Belgian examples, making it less attractive.

Though we have Allagash available in Pittsburgh...their more special brews are hard to come by. I picked this up at Stateline in MD. Review #400. Poured into my Mad Elf Chalice- I am drinking this as I review it.
A- Translucent Mahogany body that pours with a 2 finger creamy off-white head. Head fades to a thick collar and retains well but very little lacing is left behind in the glass. When held up to the light one can see that the cloudiness is thick and uniform and the red hues shine a bit more.
S- Belgian candi sugar, molasses, dark fruits (perhaps raisin), and dates hit the nose first-all pretty well balanced. Behind this is a faint spiciness and a looming smell of alcohol. The nose is very complex, but is very mild overall. Nothing is overpowering.
T-The flavor is much like the smell. Upfront are candi sugars, dates, dark fruits, and molasses all with pretty equal strength. Behind this is a complex malt and yeast combination that can be tasted more if you let the sip linger in your mouth (chocolate and toffee come through as well as a sweet bready flavor). A nice touch of spicy hop flavor is added to the finish and this is where the alcohol has a slight bite. Left to linger is something that resembles a vanilla creaminess, a touch of spicy hop flavor, a mild alcohol bitterness, and faint remnants of everything else. The character of this brew if very complex yet somewhat mild.
P-A medium, but ever tingly carbonation and a body rich in yeast. Extraordinarily smooth and creamy.
O- This is a very nice Quad. Very complex and somewhat mild...there are flavors here that are much more complex than my palate. This is what I imagine a great Quad to be. The alcohol is there...but it is much milder than in other examples of this style I have tried. Probably my favorite from Allagash so far...I will pick this up again.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 cfrancis (1223) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2010
Picked up at Whole Foods in Columbus Circle. Fabulous beer. My first Allagash. Pours a cloudy brownish orange with a beautiful frothy off-white head. Aroma is so malty it just tickles the nose. Taste is a pleasure. Malts play on the palate and the hops bite. There is alcohol taste in the undertones but it borders on a whiskey feel to the palate that is awesome. I’ll look for it again.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chaz01 (190) - Miamisburg, Ohio, USA - APR 18, 2010
2008 Bottle served into a Belgian Tulip glass. Cloudy Brown color, very murky looking with a frothy thick head. Picking up orange peel in the aroma with some alcohol tones that remind me of rum. More orange flavors, with some earthy malt characteristics. Alcohol presence definitely noted in the taste. Well carbonated, full bodied. Big alcohol finish lingers on for a bit. Very nice sipping beer if you can look past the predominant alcohol flavors. Might even consider aging this beer longer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 anders37 (9280) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 17, 2010
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty caramel and floral hoppy aroma with hints of candi sugar. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with hints of hops and yeast. Has a sweetish malty yeasty finish with hints of hops in the aftertaste and also some alcoholic hints.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MaltOMeal (1072) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - APR 11, 2010
bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a huge tan head. Nose is of brown sugar and malt. Taste is big on brown sugar. Mouthfeel is sweet, almost cloying and slightly bitter. This was way overpriced for what it delivers. Disappointed.
