ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 15, 2007 Light hazy deep amber colour with a small off white head. Malty, quite complex fruity sweetness with a light alcohol note. Sweet malty flavor with a warming alcohol sweet finish. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 14, 2007 (Bottle 75 cl) Slightly hazy, dark amber with an off-white head. Complex, fruity and quite vinous aroma. Solid body with lots of fruit and sweetish caramel. Very complex, vinous, sherry-like flavours with a rather heavy alcoholic finish. 080107 Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 14, 2007 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very alcoholic combined with notes of over ripe fruits, and a bit of whiskey. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of alcohol, which leaves a bite in the mouth, but also with notes of over ripe fruits and lighter notes of prunes and spices, leading to a slightly bitter end. To me it would be even better if it was a bit more spicy. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. Hazy amber colour with a white head. Fruity sweet alcoholic aroma with caramel and hops. The flavour is siruppy sweet, fruity, alcoholic, malty and bready. Sweet hoppy and malty aftertaste. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Jan 9, 2007 Bottled (thx. Storm for sharing): Amber coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Alcohol, fruits and light spice in the nose. Flavour of liqourice, alchol, sweetness, fruits and some herbal and grassy notes. A hoppy quad. Awesome. Quite complex and balanced. Medium to full bodied. Has a light bitter alcoholdense end with loads of warmth on lips and palate. This I really dig. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 1, 2007 Allagash’s love of all things Belgian may be more fully realized in their Tripel, but their version of a quad is pretty awesome. A rich lustrous deep brown body and a full cream colored head make it immediately attractive. But the yeast and malt of the aroma let you know it’s going to be quad-tastic! Once you let it breathe, its complexity comes through, with the expected sugar and caramel but also some lovely notes of plum, clove, chocolate, and oak. Really fantastic and I wish I had another bottle. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Dec 26, 2006 So elegant, my favorite of Allagash’s amazing products. Pours a gorgeous deep amber with a stubborn off white head. Sweet and tart yeast in the aroma, along with slightly spicy hops, very light phenolic alcohol, oranges, sugar, caramel and chocolate. Flavor is very full and divine, very well rounded and balanced. Sugar cookies, cinnamon, new oak dominate the taste profile. Finish is streamlined, elegant with a touch of mustiness. Yummy. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Dec 25, 2006 Bomber - Poured a hazy dark amber in color with a foamy whitish head that stuck it out until the end. Aroma was slightly hoppy, but with a distinct brown sugar air. Flavor was quite sweet with an almost "homebrew" character to it. Since I brew my own, this was unexpected and quite well received. Some hopiness, but not as much as I expected. Very easy drinking and very good at hiding the hefty alcohol content. I like it...
