A rich lustrous deep brown body and a full cream colored head make it immediately attractive. But the yeast and malt of the aroma let you know it’s going to be quad-tastic! Once you let it breathe, its complexity comes through, with the expected sugar and caramel but also some lovely notes of plum, clove, chocolate, and oak. Really fantastic and I wish I had another bottle. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2006 So elegant, my favorite of Allagash’s amazing products. Pours a gorgeous deep amber with a stubborn off white head. Sweet and tart yeast in the aroma, along with slightly spicy hops, very light phenolic alcohol, oranges, sugar, caramel and chocolate. Flavor is very full and divine, very well rounded and balanced. Sugar cookies, cinnamon, new oak dominate the taste profile. Finish is streamlined, elegant with a touch of mustiness. Yummy. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2006 Bomber - Poured a hazy dark amber in color with a foamy whitish head that stuck it out until the end. Aroma was slightly hoppy, but with a distinct brown sugar air. Flavor was quite sweet with an almost "homebrew" character to it. Since I brew my own, this was unexpected and quite well received. Some hopiness, but not as much as I expected. Very easy drinking and very good at hiding the hefty alcohol content. I like it... CharlesDarwin (1834), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2006 750mL. Light tart cherries aroma, a little metallic and a tinge hopish. Definately a good bit of cream and brown sugar. Pour of clear ruby, with a creamy froth of off-white. Flavor is surprisingly weak and bland. Not particularly watery, the sugars are just clear and bland. There’s oak, cherry, cork and a bit of tannins. Alcohol deftly hidden. Incredibly drinkable for a quad. For the style, needs more fruit character and some depth and uniqueness. Nips of lemony hop caress the finish. Long oak smack. luiss (89), Elmsford, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Bottle pours out a lager looking color. Nice lacing smell blows out hints of roasted caramel nuts, oak, and licorice. Not much head on this beer which was dissapointing for me. The flavor of rum, and fruit seem to fad away quickly. Waiting a bit to see what happens as it gets warmer. A bit more mellow, it gets more yeasty and hopy as well. I think they should have just done 2 of everything instead. The price would have hopefully been lower and the rating higher. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 24, 2006 Pours a brown caramel color with thin head. Aroma of fruits and yeast. Big malt flavor with more fruitiness (raisins and apples) and a bit of a hop bite as well. Mild alcohol warming in the back of the mouth, almost a brandy taste. Very interesting and enjoyable beer. 4 malts, 4 hops, 4 sugars and 4 fermentations produced a rating of 4! alobar (1015), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
