moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2006 This belgian style pours out a very nice medium brown color with a light tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty with a hint of raisins or grapes. Taste is massively malty with plenty of yeasty/doughy flavors present as well. Very thick and full mouthfeel. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Oct 16, 2006 750 ml bottle. Dark copper color white no head. Aroma and taste of malt and lite hops with an alcohol after taste. billk (300), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA Oct 15, 2006 Bottle 750 ml. Had this at a tasting. Aromas of fruit & Belgian yeast. Flavors of fruit with a hint of birch beer and Belgian yeast. Complex but lacking mystique, funk, intreague. A bit on the sweet side. Candy like. No notes taken, memory only. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2006 For some reason, we have gotten all of the special releases, tripel, grand cru, dubbel, white, summer, and never gotten this before. I have a bottle from 2003, but I thought i would see what it tastes like fresh, since I have never even had this before. The last of the Allagash beers I have tried, except for bruin and BA 4, i was eagerly anticipating this one. The cork popped off without too much pulling, but it did not blow off as I thought it might have. Reddish brown color pour. Smell is sweet, some hops, malts, sugars, and rich. Taste is smooth and fruity, sweet, with a light CO2 presence. Not hoppy, but just a nice beer. Has the taste of all allagash beers yeast, quite good. Proving this is probably my favorite brewery in all of the usa, without question. perhaps the world? I can drink anything these guys put out, any time. Great stuff. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Oct 8, 2006 Opaque reddish-brown body with about one finger of light tan head. Light scent - malt, fruit, and alcohol. Flavor is much stronger. Fruit dominates the flavor with some malt and alcohol toward the finish. On the heavier side of medium bodied. A fair bit of carbonation, but not prickly. Tasty and pleasant to be sure, and more drinkable than some quadrupels I’ve had. GRM (1238), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Oct 6, 2006 Bottle, 750 ml; eye: amber with burgundy reflections, nice beige head, clear, no effervescence; nose: malt (caramel), hops, pepper, alcohol, spices, citrus, sweet and syrupy (Cointreau); mouth : malt, pepper, caramel, Cointreau, finale in caramel with a hint of pepper, full body, sticky texture, good carbonation, mildly sweet and bitter

Bouteille, 750 ml; oeil : ambrée avec des reflets bourgognes, belle mousse beige, claire, pas d’effervescence; nez : malt (caramel), houblon, poivre, alcool, épices, citron, liquoreux (Cointreau); bouche : malt, poivre, caramel, Cointreau, finale caramel avec une pointe de poivre, corsé, texture collante, bonne carbonatation, moyennement sucrée et amère cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 14, 2006 Pours a slight hazy amber color. Medium white head. The smell is very sweet. I notice a bit of a fruit smell, berry like. I am picking up on a bit of chocolate banana as well. Smells a bit malty and creamy. Taste has a very nice balance to it. Very nice and just the right amount of sweetness from the malt to go with the hoppiness. You can taste a slight burn from the alcohol on this beer as well. I detect an over so sligh chocolate banana taste. This was a very good beer and my 100th rating. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Sep 7, 2006 Updated: Mar 26, 2008750 mL bottle: Pours hazy amber with average head that dissapates quickly. Aroma wasn’t as strong as expected. Nice flavor but relatively light in comparison with other quads. Although I do think there is a nice balance. The alcohol is not too overwhelming and blends nicely wth the spicey finish. Mouthfeel isn’t as rich as some of the other quads but still a solid beer.
