| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2004 Light ruby brown colored. Decent sized head and lace that will not die. Wonderful nose of pear, bubblegum, banana, toffee and more. Medium bodied, suprisingly light texture, may be called watery by some, fruit phenols evident, smooth, herbal, scrumptous yeast and hops come through in finish. Tasty brew, drinks too damn easy for its stength. Needs more texture and time to age IMO. A bit underwhelmed at this one but still very young and improves as warms past cellar. f351c4v (411), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

Anise, licorice, raisins, grapes, a hint of booze... Lots going on in the aroma. Silky smooth body reveals dark fruits, brown sugars, lots of malts. A great attempt at a tough style to replicate. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2004 I have been waiting to taste this one for a while. POurs a deep amber with a slight off-white head. Aromas of hops and pears and flavors of caramel and yeast. Full bodied but with a slight tang on the palate. I will try again, but for now, it is my least favorite Quadruple ale, but still decent overall. radiomgb (2074), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Flavour was slightly yeasty, caramel sweetness, some malt, creamy. Medium-large body with some alcohol coming through. Finishes with a slight alcohol heat, smooth and pretty well balanced. Not bad. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA

A strong fruit nose with apple, cider, and pears along with a pepper, cloves, candy, and Belgian spices. Sparkling and fizzy on the palate, it starts sweet and spicey and finishes dry. Dark fruit and apple flavors throughout with a sharp peper and spiced flavor. fly (1334), austin, Tejas, USA

Their beers are not of the knock you over the head variety, but more the subtly nuanced variety. Fruit and yeast in the aroma is rather pleasant. and at 10% would say that the alcohol is fairly well hidden. Just a well put together effort. Very nice. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Nose & flavor are similar and with lots going on. Spicy bread dough, toffee, pear, fuzzy fruits, and a hint of banana. Nice balance, with hops to round it out. Medium bodied, fizzy end, 10% not really found anywhere. Great stuff!
