I feel like I’m a Hollywood beer agent; See, see, see, I discovered this! Ahhhh I didn’t do shit, I just went to the store and bought an expensive bottle of beer; I’m the same old looser I’ve always been!
Pours with a foggy mahogany body and a small but dense off white head. The aroma is malty and yeast. Radiating notes of toffee, dates, raisins, and warm wheat bread covered with chopped almonds and honey butter are drawing me in.
The flavor, the flavor, Ohhhh the f-l-a-v-o-r!! Lets talk about a cornucopia filled with all the most wonderful dark fruits in North America….. and more! Plums, apricots to no end, gooey ripened dates rolled in brown sugar, mid-summer cherries those cherries that are plump and overly ripe… about to burst they’re so ripe and sweet. A fresh loaf of dark bread, pumpernickel or a toasty dark wheat but with tangerine zest baked in to add so citric quality; a peppery spiciness, a sprinkling of cardamom, and nutmeg. The creamy palate will lift your spirit and soften your soul…. Soooo very Nice!
I will be buying a few more bottle of this before it’s gone. I could do a side-by-side with any Trappist Quad and never know that this wasn’t a peer. A year in my cellar would add the most amazing complexity to a brew that is already an artesian compilation!

Pours a beautiful amber which is cloudy and with a fiery orange hue and a thick dense and frothy head. Head settles down a bit but retains well. Fantastic aroma, sugary, malty with notes of cherries, yeast and spices like pepper and clove. Wonderful. The mouthfeel is creamy, full and smooth with a delicate feel and a lively carbonation. The flavor is also one to desire. A sugary, malty spicy treat that has a faint and enjoyable hop presence which lends a slight grassy note. No signs of the 10% abv anywhere in aroma or flavor. Not as complex or deep a flavor as some Belgian Quads we all are familiar with but I wasn't expecting that either. This is an American brew. Maybe with time it will mature a bit but it's wonderful right now in my opinion. An incredibly enjoyable flavor. This one's a winner folks. The best Allagash has brewed in my humble opinion. Way to go guys! roomtempbeer (185), Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is of fresh, sweet fruit, berries, very pleasant. Flavor is of fresh, sour apples/ pears. The carbonation is very bubbly and stings the mouth. Pleasant, but somewhat watery mouthfeel. adrian910ss (1437), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 15, 2005 dark tan ruby tinted body that looks like a mix of tomato juice and iced tea with a thin grey head. aroma is sherry like with sweetness and a noticeable yeast tint. notes of bubblegum and fruits. this is appealling to someone like me who has a barleywine chugging exterior, but don’t let that fool you, i can also enjoy slowly sipping a complex brew too. upfront sweetness of candy apples and cotton candy with a dry finish. alcohol is noticeable but not dominant. very well balanced beer. some peppermint also comes out in this. lingering spicey licorice dryness that draws me back for more. doughy earth notes in this are fantastic, a wonderful beer JFURYCAT (795), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2008 The hops stand out on the initial sip with some sugary malty bananas and prunes with a muted spicy character. The alcohol lingers in the finish with a certain yeasty character to it that lends a slight bitter edge almost of whiskey. This was my contribution to the NEPA case swap. For a quad it seems awfully drinkable except for the alcoholic kick. The palate has some dryness and is not overly carbonated despite the cork lying above (this was bottled in 2005). | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 12, 2005 On tap at Landmark 1850 Inn - Milwaukee. Pour was a clear and deep ruby/amber with a medium tan head. Nice intricate lacing as this one went down. Deep dark fruits and other malts provided a strong basis for the aroma and the flavor. Spices and candi sugar were also present in the aroma and flavor. Flavor gets an extra point for being slightly more bold and intense than the nose. Very smooth and coating on the palate, with some warmth at the back of the throat. This was an excellent brew!
