Entered to celebrate my rating number 17,200. Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, malt, wood, and oranges. The flavor is sweet and sour with notes of citrus fruits, brettanomyces, wood, fruits, malt, and caramel. Nice one. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Very delicious Bretty and berry-like nose. Medium body, tart berry accents - blackcurrant - lots of dry Brett and a distinct sweet woodiness, a little lactic as well. Dry and slightly astringent finish. Yummy indeed. 240610

A: The beer pours amber in color with a short lived, small, off-white head. S: Upfront I get a strange smell of maple syrup, perhaps it’s just the vanilla and oak? After that it’s tart fruits, though I wouldn’t have guessed raspberries. Mild strawberry and lemon aromas with some grassy funk. T: The flavor is nicely sour with hints of vinegar, but primarily lactic acidity. Tart berries, grass, lemon zest, and oak. There’s a mild earthiness to the beer along with some green apple skins. M: Medium in body with a lively carbonation. O: Overall a good but not great beer. It was pleasantly tart, and there were some nice flavors to it, but nothing that really grabbed my attention.

Bottle at The Fruit Sour Tasting, London - many thanks to Ken for this rare Allagash. Pours cloudy, golden brown with a fine, white cream head. Tangy-bready aroma, some lemon and berries. Medium sweet flavor with sugary malts, bread, fruits, ample tang. Light to medium in body with fine, soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet finish, some bitter minerals, lemon and tangy bread. This beer seems to be well and passed its prime. While still decent, there was really nothing very exciting here (as I would have expected given the beer’s reputation). If you have this beer I would recommend you drink it now.
