3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at The Fruit Sour Tasting, London - many thanks to Ken for this rare Allagash. Pours cloudy, golden brown with a fine, white cream head. Tangy-bready aroma, some lemon and berries. Medium sweet flavor with sugary malts, bread, fruits, ample tang. Light to medium in body with fine, soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet finish, some bitter minerals, lemon and tangy bread. This beer seems to be well and passed its prime. While still decent, there was really nothing very exciting here (as I would have expected given the beer’s reputation). If you have this beer I would recommend you drink it now.

Bottle @ THE fruit sour tasting. Cheers to Ken! The pour’s hazy brown with a tiny off-white head. The nose is raspberry jam, metal, some grapenut breakfast cereal. The taste is jam, light honeyed bread. Slight red berry vinous tang. Nice balance, not overly sweet. Mild funk on the finish. Overall, a solid sour.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Ken at THE fruit sour tasting. It pours cloudy deep amber-brown with a thin beige head. The nose is raspberry yoghurt, red grapefruit, tart strawberry, jam and wood. The taste is rather mellow, raspberry, red grapefruit, vinous aspect, earth, wood, vanilla and pithy citrus with a tart finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A tasty beverage, but there is not much to it.

Shared by Thorpe429 alongside several other Allagash sour/wild ales. Thank you very much, Mike!
The beer is dark copper with a thin head. The aroma is complex and quite alluring. Dark fruits, toffee, oak, yeast. The taste brings raisins, prunes, toffee, oak, yeast. Nice tartness in the finish. Everything comes together well. A truly delicious beer. Light to medium in body with moderately low carbonation. This is certainly one of the best wild ales from Allagash.

From a bottle share. A great surprise to see this come out. Pours a reddish brown. Aroma hints at the sourness. Taste has a bit of raspberry followed by a mellow sour note. Well balanced between those two flavors.
