COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden Brett is a dark golden colored beer, brewed with Victory, 2-Row and Red Wheat malt. It was lightly hopped with a blend of Northern Brewer and Simcoe hops. The beer started itís primary fermentation in a stainless tank and finished fermentation in a 800 gallon oak foudre. The finished beer has fruity nose and flavors of citrus, apricot and bread crust. The mild tartness of the beer gives way to a long, clean finish.

Good amount of white head is pretty well-retained atop a pineapple-colored, lightly hazy body. It glows in the sunlight and looks quite impressive.
Pineapple, lychee, lime and just full-on brett fruitiness in the nose. Not as much of the tart, ultra dry band-aid so much as just the tropical fruit. I believe itís clausenii or custercius (sp?)? Anyhow, stupidly pointless guesses aside, itís a lovely aroma filled in on the edges with slightly sweet sponge cake notes and a touch of breadiness from the malts and oak. Tannins are minimal and no alcohol or flaws are noted.
A touch more subtle in the flavor, with more fruit-forward esters mixing with the lightly sweet malts. Some vanilla and dry biscuits round out the maltiness while the wheat and tight carbonation make for a wonderful texture. My friends were complaining that it smelled of gym socks and cat urine, but I didnít get it at all. Not to say that gym socks are any stranger to the brett-descriptor world, but I didnt find it all that funky or farmy. Just lightly tart, wonderfully tropical fruited and incredibly drinkable. Simcoe hops donít contribute any resin or heavy bitterness, thankfully and the alcohol is well-controlled. Very good, as usual, from Allagash. I feel like a broken record, but the only drawbacks are the usual heavy (relatively speaking) breadiness/doughiness (though this is more of a dry bread and less of a yeasty dough). About the only detractor here.

Draft at Churchkey. Beautifully translucent golden pour with minimal bubbly head. Nose and flavor are all about new age American wild characteristics, with big cheesy Brett funk, extremely light acidity, and dank Simcoe hops melding into a refreshing, earthy, complex creation. Palate is medium bodied, with soft to medum carbonation. Good shit.

Pours clear golden, not much head. Smell is sour, bit fruity perfume. Taste is taste is bit dry, sour apples, brett, golden ale undertone, some sharp grainyness. Rather intense, yet balanced sourness

Pour is golden amber, transparent, with a moderate amount of tight white head with a small amount of retention and some lacing left behind. Nose is heavily bretted, light notes of oak, hints of sulfur, apricot and white grapes. Taste is far sweeter, loads of white grapes, a bit sugary, faint oak, light bitterness through the finish. Really delicate feel, lighter carbonation, dry finish.

375ml bottle: This one pours a crystal clear darker golden color. There was a very small white head on it. The nose is good. Somewhat fruity but definitely sour. Some oak notes also. The taste is very good. Just a bit tart. Citrus, some breadiness, A dry finish. This is really nice.
