Aroma is lightly roasted malt and a bit of tang. Feels heavy, best to drink in a small glass. I can’t get all the flavors but there are a lot of them. Yay beer! yemenmocha (354), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Deep red amber hue with some haze from the yeast. Belgian lace present throughout the whole drinking experience, though initial head is somewhat flacid even with an aggressive pour.
Aroma suggests sweetness throughout. Malt, Wit/Hefeweizen yeasty fruity aromas, and some black tea aromas are present. Ceylon Fancy?
Medium bodied. A nice malty flavor, balanced though. Sweetness is great for those who like this style. Higher alcohol is very deceptive to me. For an alternative to pricey Belgian imports, give this one a try.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 12oz bottle that I was looking forward to. Its a hazy orange color with candied fruit smells and a slightly fruity taste with grainy notes. This tastes like a belgian amber to me. This is pretty good but due to the sweetness it takes a while to drink...

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper orange with a medium creamy off white head that lasts awhile leaving decent lacing along the glass. The aroma is a fruity malt with yeast and spice. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet malt taste with licorice and a nice spicy finish. Easy to drink hiding alcohol nicely, a very good Belgian strong ale from Allagash. skweek (13), College Park, Maryland, USA

Very good beer. Batch 18, aged about 2 1/2 years. Held up very well, I kinda wish I would have sat on this for another 6 months, would be excellent on a cold day. jrallen34 (123), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Jul 22, 2009 I drank this from the bottle into a chalice.
It darks dark clay red with a big creamy, long lasting light tan head and great lacing.
It smells sour like tea, and hints of hops and citrus.
Things were off to a good start and I had high hopes, then I drank it. Horrible.
There is light tea taste, overall its a very simple soft taste with lots of taste. There are hints of nutmeg and cinammon as well.
A very poor effort. Jblauvs (547), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
