mj (4975), Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2007 Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this beer before. Found a case of 12oz bottles for only $20 at the local store, bottled in 2006. Pours a really attractive dark peach, almost rusty brown color. Sticky sweet nose of apricots, cashews, orange marmalade and honey, with the Allagash yeast in there to a moderate level, so it has a nice mild spicyness in the nose. Sticky and frothy, more of that orange marmalade noticed in the flavor, along with a light peppery toast and biscuit flavor. Overall a solid beer, and since it’s bottle conditioned I don’t mind buying a year-old case at a huge discount. VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Feb 10, 2007 Updated: Feb 14, 2007Pour a dark amber color with a white fluffy head. Aromas of fruits and some spices. I tasted some fruits, berry, spices, and licorice. Easy belgian to drink. Crisp and clean. Allagash is a one of my favorite local craft brewers. UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA Feb 8, 2007 Very nice sweet smell. The flavor was nothing though. But I am not saying it was bad. In fact, it is one of the better beers I have ever had. Great beer! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 7, 2007 My first Allagash. This is a great Belgian Strong. If I didn’t know better I would think it was an import. The aroma was a little weak but was fruity. Pour was a bubbly hazy red with no head. The taste was a nice balance of fruits and spice. The malt shows it’s head as well but is gone after the swallow. Nice. millysdaddy (67), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Feb 7, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, golden amber with a very small off-white head. The aroma is very fruity - berries and pear - with a hint of vanilla and spice. The sweet maltiness comes through the strongest in the flavor but it’s not at all too sweet. Very well balanced and easy to drink. I like it a lot. maeib (4683), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Feb 7, 2007 Bottled. A reddy brown coloured beer with a short-live whitish head. The aroma is fruity with berries and sugars. The taste is malty and fruity with nice yeasty notes. Good alcohol coming through. Smooth and tasty. tish (35), In transition at the moment, Indiana, USA Feb 1, 2007 Batch #15. Poured with a camel color head, hazy golden amber, nice lacing. Nose of sweet light banana bread, yeasty with a hint of spice. Wasn’t sweet as it smelled, but had more spicy, slight smokey, buttery and malty goodness. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Jan 31, 2007 Updated: Feb 1, 2007Batch #14. Hazy amber body with a medium sized head, lasting with nice lacing. The aroma is prums, pears, clove, light banana and candi sugar. The flavor is very fruity, pitted dark fruits, banana, light sugar sweetness, herbal hops and corriander. Medium body with tight carbonation, light in the mouth, just a touch of astringency and alcohol on the finish (although this did go away once the beer warmed up, thus adding greatly to the score).
