Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

Cloudy golden body with a large but quickly diminishing white head. Strong aroma of citrusy resinous hops and caramel. Maybe even a touch of smoke. Full body with plenty of malt and spicy yeast. Caramel flavour without the roastiness, a little foresty, fruity flavours with orange pulp and melons, some coriander, moderately sweet, a little tartness. Very hoppy with a caramelized bitterness. Perfect alcohol level. Mostly very belgian but with a american twist in the hops giving it its distinctive character. Another nice highly drinkable beer from this american brewery that I find as reliable as an american car… made in japan.

750ml bottle batch #12, sample from holdenn. pours an amber with decent head. aroma is very fruity and yeasty, coriander, oaky, and vanilla. taste of orangy, yeast, pepper, cinnamon and cloves. starts sweet and finished dry. light and easy to drink but flavor isn’t that pleasant and too spiced for my tastes.

On tap at Barcade: Pours a hazy orangey amber with minimal head. The aroma is slightly vinous with tart fruits, some yeast and candyish malt hints. The flavor is predominately fruity sweet notes. Cranberry, orange, some spicyness (cinnamon?) Later slightly roasted maltly sweetness with a light dry finish. Somewhat simple, especially when given the title of a "Grand Cru", but not bad.

750 ml bottle into a Trappist glass, thanks to Vex! Pours a lovely looking orange tone with a hint of light brown. A white very retentive head sits atop the brew. The aroma brings a very bready and yeasty note, while also containing some spicey citrus mixed in. The flavor begins with a light sweet malt that moves into a yeasty flavor in which the corriander startes to really come out. Somewhat carbonated. An orangey hint comes through near the finish before being taken over by corriander. A sticky yeasty feeling with corriander lingering ends this one. Fairly bready, but not as much as say, the Val-Dieu Grand Cru. I really liked this one!!

Pours orange, just a bit cloudy. Aroma a bit yeasty and citrucy. Can’t identify the spices but it tastes great.

Bottle. Ehh... Nothing that really stood out to me. I read the description ... no smoke, no licorice, subtle fruit, no spice. That being said, a pretty beer with a creamy head. Very palatable and pleasant...just nothing outstanding. Pass.
