Yeasty and spice like fragrence. Flavor is sharp and citric, with a hint of vanilla and some flavorful herbs and spices. An overall really enjoyable beer. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Oct 24, 2006 Updated: Dec 6, 2006Re-rated 12/5/2006. I decided to buy another bottle at another store to see if perhaps the first bottle was not up to par given my first rating of 2.6. Pour was identical to first bottle. This bottle was a bit more aromatic with notes of apple, citrus and sweet malt. Not much fruit noted in the flavor. In fact, the flavor is fairly indistinct. Thin mouthfeel. I ended up adding three points on this re-rate, but I think I have to accept that I just don’t care for this beer.
Original rating. 12 oz. bottle. Poured a hazy brown/gold with a thin off-white head. Very light aroma of malt and some grassy notes. Light flavored and light bodied with some citrus noted along with some malt sweetness. Watery, thin mouthfeel. I did not care for this one and it certainly did not strike me as a winter brew.
ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 23, 2006 Cloudy orange colour with a beige head. Malty, yeasty aroma with a light herbal note. Malty, light sweet flavor with a yeasty and herbal note. Light citric finish. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Oct 21, 2006 Poured clear orange with persistent thick white head. Mildly spicy aroma, with bitter orange peel up front. Not as sweet as I was expecting. A light tang starts off and mild dry bitterness ends the taste. Not as complex as I was expecting from Allagash, especially for their Grand Cru. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Oct 15, 2006 Bottled. Hazy golden in colour with a small head.
