COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

My first Allagash. This is a great Belgian Strong. If I didn’t know better I would think it was an import. The aroma was a little weak but was fruity. Pour was a bubbly hazy red with no head. The taste was a nice balance of fruits and spice. The malt shows it’s head as well but is gone after the swallow. Nice.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, golden amber with a very small off-white head. The aroma is very fruity - berries and pear - with a hint of vanilla and spice. The sweet maltiness comes through the strongest in the flavor but it’s not at all too sweet. Very well balanced and easy to drink. I like it a lot.

Bottled. A reddy brown coloured beer with a short-live whitish head. The aroma is fruity with berries and sugars. The taste is malty and fruity with nice yeasty notes. Good alcohol coming through. Smooth and tasty.

Batch #15. Poured with a camel color head, hazy golden amber, nice lacing. Nose of sweet light banana bread, yeasty with a hint of spice. Wasn’t sweet as it smelled, but had more spicy, slight smokey, buttery and malty goodness.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2010 Batch #14. Hazy amber body with a medium sized head, lasting with nice lacing. The aroma is prums, pears, clove, light banana and candi sugar. The flavor is very fruity, pitted dark fruits, banana, light sugar sweetness, herbal hops and corriander. Medium body with tight carbonation, light in the mouth, just a touch of astringency and alcohol on the finish (although this did go away once the beer warmed up, thus adding greatly to the score).

Another great beer from Allagash. Aroma of spice, malts and some dark fruits such as black berries, plums and cherries. I shared this beer with 3 others....they looked at me and said..."whoa!......thats good brew!"

Poured a golden color with small head and left good lacing. Aroma was very spicey and yeasty. Flavor was not as sweet as i expected which was nice. Light fruits and yeast. Much less sweet than your usual Belgian Ale, but enjoyable. Flavor was a little watered down though.

Bottle from BevMo La Mesa. Batch 15. Pours a dark amber colorwith a light beige head. Light and fruity aroma with a spicy yeast quality going on. Mellow light fruitiness up front with a roasted malty flavor. Gentle yeast with a dash of spice. Finish if fairly bitter.
