Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

Batch 8. Resin, caramel and licorice aromas. Deep amber in appearance with long lasting, finely-formed head. Spicy and malty with lively carbonation. Long caramel and alcohol finish.

Bottle. Poured a hazy deep amber with a large creamy off-white head that was lasting. Heavy spicy citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good complex balanced flavor with an average duration finish. Another good Allagash brew.

Light, spicy aroma, with gentle malts and yeastiness. Pour is mid gold with a mild head. Spicy, relaxed flavor, very well balanced with a refreshing palate. A very nice drink overall.

Pours a somewhat clear deep orange with a white head. Aroma is yeasty and spicy with some citrus in there. Flavor has notes of pear, caramel, yeast, spiciness, clove, a hint of banana, orange peel and lemon. Pleasantly sweet with plently of well-balanced hop bitterness. Pretty bold tasting, very well-made. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Very nice stuff.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a small beige head. Aroma consists of black pepper, ginger, banana, malt and yeast. Taste is slightly spicy with hints of black pepper, malt, ginger ale, banana and honey. Not bad, but could be better.

Hazy (from my pour) blood orange with a thick head of fine bubbles and some lacing. Gingery corriander aroma with soft banana, subtle noble hops, some detectable spices, a little musty, and no obvious alcohol. Flavour: spicy spices, corriander, black pepper, well balanced sweet / bitter (both are significant). Some fruitiness: banana, white grape, curranty hops. Sweetness is from malt. Woody bitter mixed with some alchohol. Medium body, a tad warming, and medium carbonation.

This was a very nice, fruity ale that went wonderfully with my dinner of chicken and sesame-peanut noodles. Yum. Amber with a nice subdued fruity/spicy/yeasty aroma and flavor- it was very, how shall I say (I hate to use the phrase) "drinkable". Anyway, good and recommended, though not exactly exciting.
