ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 4, 2005 750ml Batch 10 Bottle: Cork popping leaves an interesting pattern on my ceiling; Spicy coriander and flowery hop aroma and a bit medicinal; honey and light fruit (apple, pear) notes; cloudy body and not alot of lacing in a clean glass; sweet, woody and yeasty, slightly dry finish and an oily, smooth palate, peppery spiciness that’s not too much; very good, but lacks some complexity one would expect in a Grand Cru; well balanced and not too spiced for me. It has plenty of flavor and charactor without the alcoholic strength, which is just fine. JoshuaB (422), Detroit, Michigan, USA Aug 27, 2005 Batch 9: Poured a murky amber with sizeable white foamy head. Aroma is lots of spicy yeast mixed with some fruit sweetness and anise. Taste is a lot of yeast, mixed with some pepper notes, nutmeg, and some other spices. Vanilla is also present in the fisnih. Nice malt backbone. Nice complexity. A good beer for a cold night. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Aug 26, 2005 Poured hazy orange with a sizable white head. Aroma was fruity with orange and citrus. I picked up some vanilla and toffee in the taste which I liked. Very nice palate with orange and vanilla. I’m glad I still have the rest of the bottle to finish. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 23, 2005 22 oz. Batch 9, 2005. Nice hazy amber color, with a dense head. Somewhat sweet malty flavor. Seems to get more fruit and spice undertones as the bottle wears on. Could finish a tad cleaner. Really enjoy the complexity. Overall an excellent brew. Brad (364), Berkley, Michigan, USA Aug 22, 2005 Bomber, Batch 9: Very nutty, woodsy, too much alcohol in the nose. Flavor is fruit spice with a powerful alcohol bite at first, but it does mellow to showcase some very nice yeast spice. Thick and velvety mouthfeel. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Aug 21, 2005 Batch 9. Pours a light amber w/ foamy white head. nose is yeasty, woody, light alcohol and some citrus. Fizzy taste w/ some light spice notes. Lots of good sized sediment swirls in the glass. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2005 bottle. hazy orange body with a medium-sized fluffy white head. prominent yeast nose, pepper notes and clove. sweet malty body with soft fruit flavours. Body is yeasty and warm. Spicy finish. Solid. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Aug 11, 2005 22oz - batch #10 - Aroma is sweet with candy sugar, banana, and yeast. Spiced with pepper and clove. Pours a light hazy brown with a small head and some lacing. Flavor is thick with carmel malt, yeast, clove, and a touch of hop. Palate is creamy and smooth. A nice American Belgian (if that makes sense).
