atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA Jan 19, 2004 Cloudy amber-brown color with a head that is creamy on top and that continues to feed itself with thousands of defined little bubbles that emerge from a highly carbonated beer. Aroma is a combination of malt and yeast that also appears in the flavor along with a slight sourness. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 12, 2004 (750ml, batch #6)Murky color is the fading glow of red-hot iron. The fluffy, three-finger pale tan head slowly collapses into a film of foam. Lacing is strangely absent. Spicy-sweet nose of lemon drops, gingersnaps, and marzipan. A whirlwind of flavors: cotton candy, plum, lemongrass, ginger, nutmeg, coriander, peppermint(?). Musky and floral, disturbingly sensual. The finish is dry, with a fleeting sense of bubble gum followed by burnt sugar bitterness. Lightly phenolic aftertaste, bitter and zesty- grapefruit rind, maybe- and alcohol; almost like a good gin, come to think of it. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Jan 8, 2004 Nice orange color. Pretty enjoyable beer. Had it with some japanese food. I really enjoyed it. Nice hop flavor. Its fruity too. Very drinkable. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Jan 7, 2004 Pours cloudy orange-brown with a white head. Slightly undercarbonated for the sort of beer that it is. Are there any 750 ml corked bottles of this? Nice aroma of fruit and hops. Full palate with a nice hop flavor, and carmel malt undertones. Overall decent, drinkable, and enjoyable. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jan 5, 2004 This beer had a large sized ivory head that was frothy with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was cloudy-hazy and carbonated with an orange-copper hue. The nose was malty, caramel, light hops, sweet, fruity and spicy. The flavor of this beer was sweet, lightly hopped, slightly bitter, spicy, malty, caramel, and alcohol notes with a slight aftertaste. The mouthfeel was smooth and slightly bitter. This was a medium bodied beer with sparse lacing. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA Jan 2, 2004 These guys might have fooled others, but I can see the original lable from the Belgian brewery hiding under the one that has been slapped on top. What jokers. As if someone in Maine could know how to make such a fabulous beer. As if ... No, I'm not fooled. There's no way they could make one with the flavors I found here. Linc (736), Sydney, Australia Jan 1, 2004 Deep amber, small head. Pine aroma, sugar and coriander flavour sweet, oily palate. Strangely interesting. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Dec 23, 2003 Dark bronze color with tawny edges, lasting head and repugnant lacing. The aroma is faint, but slightly malty and sweet. The flavor is present, but also faint. I thought this would be a little more assertive but it kind of left me hanging. The belgian esters were present but just lacking, hense the average ratings.
