Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

My first Allagash. This is a great Belgian Strong. If I didn’t know better I would think it was an import. The aroma was a little weak but was fruity. Pour was a bubbly hazy red with no head. The taste was a nice balance of fruits and spice. The malt shows it’s head as well but is gone after the swallow. Nice.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a tall white head. Aroma is very much a nice grassy hops with some malts and candy sugar. Flavor is very good. Some hops but the spices really show up. Malts come in next along with some yeastness. Finsih is dark fruits with a slight touch of alcohol. Very tasty and pleasing to all the sences. Easy on the wallet as well makes this one to look for.

Pours copper, with a large white head and nice lacing. Yeast and bread in the nose. Citrus as well. Malt, yeast, and some hops comprise the flavors. Some sugar in the flavors as well. Medium body. A small spice filled palate makes this a fine belgian, but a bit too sweet for my liking.

batch#14 ..Pours a light copper/gold colour...Medium head, lacing is great when the brew warms up...Very smooth and horribly drinkable...Just a delicious drink, lots of fruity flavours! ..has a nice bitter profile...it’s pronounced dumass..

Bottle. This is a beautiful looking beer, peachy-red with a creamy off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is yeast, fruit and sweet malts and spice - like a holiday fruit, herb and spice bread. Flavor is good, apricot, peach, allspice, nutmeg, pepper and citrus hops. Nice body, almost syrupy with creamy carbonation. Nice belgian style from the folks in Maine.

Nice head initially but remind me more of soda bubbles than head. Carbonation continued to emerge for quite a while which was nice. Murky orange brown color. Initial aroma of flowers with a slight hint of alcohol. Initally bubbles in the mouth with a hint again of alcohol. Other flavors present in a complex assortment. Finishes creamy, dry and hoppy. A decent brew and one that should be savored slowly.

Batch 8. Resin, caramel and licorice aromas. Deep amber in appearance with long lasting, finely-formed head. Spicy and malty with lively carbonation. Long caramel and alcohol finish.

750ml bottle, batch 12, golden-orangeish hue, with a small beige head, with a spicy nose of coriander, curaçao, hint of anise, candied orange peels, caramelized malt, toasted malt, with a peachy and apricot fruitiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp sweet caramelized malt, with a nice candied orange peels fruitiness, curaçao, spicy coriander accent, smooth sweet bready dough malt, note of dried fruits, hint of marmalade, with an honeyish touch, leading towards a sweet candied fruitiness and a faint floral hops bittering finish.
