Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

The Dan Journal #5. Tasted 4/15/2006. 750ml Bottle. Hazy with a golden brown hue. Clinging with white head. Spicy orange aromas. Banana and bready. Nutmeg and cinnamon. Full bodied and sweet. Nice lively effervescence. Fruity with a candy 7-Up carbonation. Banana yeasty flavor. Sticky and sweeter than a hefe, but a subtle nuance. Finish is bitter and lingering. Leaves the gums tingling. Ver nice!

A very tasty ale with notes of orange marmalade, currant and pepper. Not life-changing, but very good and satisfying overall. Recommended.

Bottle from total wine. I like the Allagash family of beers, this one is no exception. Amber pour with a nose of spices, sweet citrus, and yeast. Flavor is very nice. Malty, fruity, spicy and some candy sugar/caramel. Nice!!

Pours a pinkish amber with white head. Aroma is VERY grapefruit forward, especially when cold. Malts appear as the beer warms. Flavor, however, is fruit and yeast. Typical Belgian. Very nice.

Corked and caged big boy, wanna say I bought this in late 2005 or early 2006 (and it’s now Nov 08). Batch #12. Very spicy nose, lemon with orange peel and just a touch of cleaner, with smooth refined coriander undulating and carrying the malt to shore. Hazy orange with amber highlights, dark with a noisy beige head. Taste is extremely spicy with a nice, thick, rich fruity malt base, citrus on top of caramel and - yes! - butterscotch in droves. A bit estery with a nice chalky yeast finish and a reasonably dry finish. Has the body of this alcohol content without the bite. Lasting, gentle prickling from top-to-bottom carbonation. Balanced, restrained, and very pleasurable.

Batch #18. Pours cloudy amber with white head. Aroma of spices, licorice and citrus. Slightly fruity flavor, spices (corriander?), licorice and yeast. Medium body with lively carbonation.
