Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

Aroma of caramel/toffee malt, belgian yeast, dark fruit(american hops)spices. This reminds me of a lot of styles!APA hops and belgian yeast w/some nice specialty malts.Palate is slightly zingy(hops, spices)medium bodied(malt)very nice beer that took me awhile to understand.Appearance is well hazed(golden in good light to an amber color in dimmer light). It goes down just like butta.I have a history of being moody about this one but if you let go about the abudance of spice its very nice.

Bottle (Batch 12): Dull caramel, large off-white head, foamy, good lacing, light to moderate carbonation.   Semi-sweet yeasy/bready nose, slightly floral, very light spices/herbs.   Dull yeasty flavor, muted spices, herbs, and flora.   Not what I would have expected out of a Grand Cru.   Moderate to full body.   Lingering herbs and breadiness.   Good, but not what I remembered from years ago.   Thanks John for the bottles!

Batch #4 - Huge foamy light tan head sitting atop a very nice clear ruby body. Bubble size is large and the lacing suffers a bit as a result. Winter spices abound in the aroma, smells almost like baking cookies. Tastes a lot like it smells. Medium chewy body with a slight warming alcohol follow-up. Pretty nice beer overall.

Orange hazy beer. White head that doesn’t linger long. Bubblegums, coriander and lavender in the nose. Slight green edge. Similar to cilantro or flat leaf parsley but too sweet to classify it as such. The aroma reminds me of what De Dolle’s house yeast smells like or maybe even a pale shadow of Rochefort 8. Lighter malts keep the sweetness much more caramelly though. On the tongue this beer shines. Coriander bitterness. Sweet citrus edge, acrid hop bitterness. Very belgian on the uptake. Incredibly like de Dolle. however the lavender crashes in nicely. Saazy bitterness on the back edge. Good beer

Pours a cloudy amber color with a small beige head. Aroma consists of black pepper, ginger, banana, malt and yeast. Taste is slightly spicy with hints of black pepper, malt, ginger ale, banana and honey. Not bad, but could be better.

Pours a somewhat clear deep orange with a white head. Aroma is yeasty and spicy with some citrus in there. Flavor has notes of pear, caramel, yeast, spiciness, clove, a hint of banana, orange peel and lemon. Pleasantly sweet with plently of well-balanced hop bitterness. Pretty bold tasting, very well-made. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Very nice stuff.

75cl bottle from Pristine Liquors (Spring Hill, FL). Pours an opaque dark copper color with a thick and foamy white head that settles slowly. Head provides lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel and honey. Hints of nuts, spice and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, candy sugar, banana, some ripe fruit, maybe some apples and plums. Generally medium bodied with sweet malty finish. Nice ale.
