basewars (53), New York, USA Nov 18, 2008 Pours a pinkish amber with white head. Aroma is VERY grapefruit forward, especially when cold. Malts appear as the beer warms. Flavor, however, is fruit and yeast. Typical Belgian. Very nice. EithCubes (1837), Indiana, USA Nov 1, 2008 Corked and caged big boy, wanna say I bought this in late 2005 or early 2006 (and it’s now Nov 08). Batch #12. Very spicy nose, lemon with orange peel and just a touch of cleaner, with smooth refined coriander undulating and carrying the malt to shore. Hazy orange with amber highlights, dark with a noisy beige head. Taste is extremely spicy with a nice, thick, rich fruity malt base, citrus on top of caramel and - yes! - butterscotch in droves. A bit estery with a nice chalky yeast finish and a reasonably dry finish. Has the body of this alcohol content without the bite. Lasting, gentle prickling from top-to-bottom carbonation. Balanced, restrained, and very pleasurable. smith4498 (406), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2008 Batch #18. Pours cloudy amber with white head. Aroma of spices, licorice and citrus. Slightly fruity flavor, spices (corriander?), licorice and yeast. Medium body with lively carbonation. Mixed aroma of yeast and spices. Complex flavors consisting of malts, wood, smoke, caramel, and spices. Dry finish, slightly acidic.
