Pours an opaque strawberry orange with 1/2 inch, very dense and luxurious cream head. Very earthy, dusty nose, strong hints of peach and rock candy; magnificent mouthfeel, like drinking fresh cream (like all the allagash beers I’ve tried) with tastes of chardonnay grapes, lemongrass, peppery hops, astringent bitterness, and long lasting buttery diacetyl. The best of the Allagash belgian beers.

Aug 27, 2008 75cl bottle from Pristine Liquors (Spring Hill, FL). Pours an opaque dark copper color with a thick and foamy white head that settles slowly. Head provides lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel and honey. Hints of nuts, spice and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, candy sugar, banana, some ripe fruit, maybe some apples and plums. Generally medium bodied with sweet malty finish. Nice ale.

Aug 26, 2008 (Bottle). Spicy fruit aroma. Hazy orange color with thin head. Flavor is fruity with spice and sweetness. Rather soda pop-ish, and not too impressive. Compared to something like Rochefort 8, this Allagash lacks complexity and character.

Aug 17, 2008 Hazy orange-brown with a pillowy head. Aroma has some mild bread and sugar with a hefty dose of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of yeast. Flavor is a bit spicy with some mild apples, yeast, spices, and a hint of citrus. Not bad, just not my favorite Allagash brew.

Aug 16, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR--Poured a hazy orange-yellow with a thick whitish head. Fruity, nutty, apple, orange and caramel nose. Lots of yeasty Belgian notes. Spicy, grainy, and very quaffable.
