| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Bottle. 750mL corked and caged. Contents VERY under pressure. Bubbly hazy amber pour. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is different for a Belgian Strong. Lots of hops, flowery notes, sweet fruits, yeast and citrus oils. Soft spice as well. Taste reinforces the hop profile in this one. Big yeast, spice notes, flowers and citrus fruits come through as well. Body is very carbonated, bubbly and dry with lots of lingering aspirin-like bitterness. The finish is more hops, citrus fruits, light sweet malts, yeast, flowers and lighter spiciness. I, too, was hoping for something like the Chouffe Houblon beer, but was a bit let down, in that regard. Decent beer, nonetheless. Beerdedone (1879), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of toasty malt, light grapefruit, caramel and a hint of spice.Flavor is malty sweet with citrus hops and some light spices with a dry finish. Cornfield (4926), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 25, 2007 Having read the commercial description, I was expecting something hoppier, similar to Chouffe’s hopped up tripel. This is pleasant enough, but the bitterness doesn’t jump in until the midpoint, then lingers only briefly. Having a hazy amber body with a spongey, sustained ecru head, this has an aroma of caramel with a bit of pine and a squirt of grapefruit along with an herbal bitterness. The flavor is sweet malt with tropical fruits and a low-keyed PNW hoppiness that comes in late and leaves early. Decent enough, but I expectations were raised higher by the brewer’s description.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Pours hazy amber with a small, fizzy, off-white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, meal), average hops (flowers, citrus), average yeast (leaves) with notes of bubble gum, peach, pineapple and solvent. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 19, 2007 It’s like a hoppy Belgian style, and I like it. Pours cloudy copper, with a nice pillowy white head. Piney, floral caramelly aroma. Juicy sweet, with a touch of clove and banana, and a floral hop bite at the end. I didn’t really take very good notes because I was more interested in drinking it. Braudog (3752), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Caged and corked. Pours with a nice fizziness, orange and bright. The aroma is mildly spicy with an inviting spritz of lemon zest. At first this drinks like a sweet citrusy Belgian ale, but there’s also an added hint of northwestern hops that just kind of purcolates in the background. Innovative and drinkable. (#3061, 8/18/2007)
