Commercial Description:
The base of the beer includes English two-row malt and pale crystal malts, establishing an understated sweetness. To give Hugh Malone its hop character we use generous portions of Simcoe hops at three points in the brewing process. To begin with, we use a technique referred to as first wort hopping, in which Simcoe is added to the sweet wort as it enters the kettle. When the wort comes to a boil in the kettle we add Warrior hops, adding another layer to the bitterness of the beer. Later in the brewing process we steep a large amount of Simcoe in the whirlpool to impart a distinct hop aroma. Finally, during secondary fermentation in our conditioning tanks, we dry hop the beer, which instills a hoppy aroma with notes of pine and grapefruit. This 8.5 % ABV ale has a malty palate and a pronounced bitterness. It has a pleasant dry, hoppy finish. Original Gravity: 1080 by volume. Recommended Serving Temp: 45 degrees to 50 degrees F. Recommended Cellaring Temp: 55 degrees F

Now that we get Allagash in Georgia we’re even getting the special releases. Nice frothy head, fully dimished. Body was hazy, amber. Aroma: light bread, hay, and straw. LIght hoppiness, with herb and grass. Moderate yeast, aswell. Kind of smells like their Tripel. Also banana and apple. Very much like the tripel, but not as malty or yeasty. Ok, but not something I would buy again.

Bought from City Beer store in SF a month-ish back. pours a lovely golden amber with a big head of crisp white bubbles. Smells pretty much like i’d expect. Hoppy. And Belgian. Oddly enough, that’s how it tastes too. Belgian IPAs aren’t my favourite style but this is a tasty beer, probably not worth the $16.99 but I don’t regret it.

750ml bottle. Pours cloudy, honey amber color with a good sized white head, nice lace. Smells complex, bready malty but with a big hop presence as well. Hops are grassy and earthy. Tastes citrusy sweet, lots of hops but with a big, sweet malt presence as well. Great brew, it has big malt and hop flavors but somehow they balance out well. Full body, great carbonation.

Bottle @ Beveridge Place Pub, Seattle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Malty yeasty aroma with some spicy hints. Also some hoppy hints. Dry malty hoppy yeasty flavor with some spicy hints. Has a fruity yeasty hoppy finish.

Slightly hazy gold pour. Big white head and excellent lace... In my opinion the appearance is all this beer has to offer. Spicy aroma, mostly clove. Similar flavor with notable hints of hops. Dry finish..

Shared with friends at Hamiltons, pour was opaque yellow orange with a full white head. Nose and flavor were some spice and clove, with an element of hop. Dry finish. Not a bad beer, but definitely not a $23 beer.
