doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours cloudy, honey amber color with a good sized white head, nice lace. Smells complex, bready malty but with a big hop presence as well. Hops are grassy and earthy. Tastes citrusy sweet, lots of hops but with a big, sweet malt presence as well. Great brew, it has big malt and hop flavors but somehow they balance out well. Full body, great carbonation. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Aug 13, 2008 Bottle @ Beveridge Place Pub, Seattle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Malty yeasty aroma with some spicy hints. Also some hoppy hints. Dry malty hoppy yeasty flavor with some spicy hints. Has a fruity yeasty hoppy finish. ucusty (1865), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 8, 2008 Slightly hazy gold pour. Big white head and excellent lace... In my opinion the appearance is all this beer has to offer. Spicy aroma, mostly clove. Similar flavor with notable hints of hops. Dry finish.. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 Shared with friends at Hamiltons, pour was opaque yellow orange with a full white head. Nose and flavor were some spice and clove, with an element of hop. Dry finish. Not a bad beer, but definitely not a $23 beer. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Aug 1, 2008 pours a cloudy brown with a large dirty white head, some lacing.
smell of dark fruit, yeast, citrus, peach, touch of caramel.
taste of fruit, touch sweetness, some metallicness to it, some hops, caramel in the back, slight dry finish. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours cloudy gold with a humongous white head. Rocky, nice lacing. Aroma advertises a great beer. Hoppy, peppery, some pine, and a fragrant, sweet Belgian yeastiness. Flavor does not carry through. Soapy, unbalanced hops with that medicinal herbalness (perfect call swoopjones). The crystal malt goes very well with the yeast, however. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor was good, just not great. Probably could have been better without the dry-hopping. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 750 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent copper color with a big sudsy white head. The aroma is moderate with Belgian yeasts, musty fruits and bread doughs. The flavor features sweet malts and breads set in a yeasty backdrop. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is medium in duration, dry and clean. Overall: A good strong beer, but nothing to get excited about. A poor value, the price was way too high on this one. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 on tap @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Relly enjoyed this one. Pours a deep golden orange. Aroma is somewhat hop filled with grapefruit, sticky piney, with a Belgian mustiness to it. Taste was dry with, medicinal herbalness to it. Nice mild hop bitterness also. Remarkably smooth & refined. Really liked
