3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yankeepride (10) - Teaneck, New Jersey, USA - DEC 17, 2012I don’t have a great sense of smell, but I could swear I noted apricot in this 2012 effort. Had a good hop aroma, but not too piney. It had some chardonnay characteristics, most notably its dryness on the tongue. Foamed up quickly when poured, but it didn’t last long. Overall I’d say I enjoyed it, just not at its price point. If you’re buyin’, I’m drinkin’.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 emacgee (3445) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - APR 22, 2013
Pours a very cloudy and pale soft white with two fingers of dense and sticky white head. Nose is very peppery and spicy with a wonderful blend of peppery/spicy yeast esters and hop notes. Raw citrus flesh and peppery/green hops in the flavor. Dry and light medium body.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jrob21 (2011) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 11, 2013
Pours a light yellow with an impossibly huge foamy head. What is it with so many belgian beers and their damn yeast creating so much head. Anyways, this is a nice drink with a lot of spice and a grassy herbal finish. Lemon citrus aroma and a candi sugar malt flavor. A nice version of a belgian IPA that is enjoyably drinkable without being overpowering and ridiculous.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sperine (155) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle. Not notably bad or good. With so many other Allagash offerings, this would not be my recommendation.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2013
750 ml bottle, I believe I got it from michael-pollack. So I’ll say thanks again, Pollack! I entered it in my cellar database, looking at the style here and not seeing "Belgian IPA" on the label. 2011 vintage. Whoops. But hey, this was great. Poured a cloudy but bright gold with a finger of soft, frothy white head that stayed for a while. Aroma of bready malts, straw, funk, grass, and citrus. Flavor of bready and dry malts, grass, floral notes, oak chips, and light funk. Light-bodied, with a dry, spicy mouthfeel that has medium carbonation and finishes bitter. Great beer.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bubbleflubber (1423) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JAN 13, 2013
2012 vintage bottle, with a differing ABV of 7.3%. Pours cloudy golden with a huge ice cream head that leaves thick, chunky lacing inside the glass. The nose is citrusy and doughy. Flavors are very well-integrated, with citrus, bread, some melon, and to finish, a nice cleansing dry pepper-hop back. The mouthfeel is great, complex yet light in body, providing an extremely smooth quaff. A very nice brew here. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 AirForceHops (1852) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 3, 2012
Draft @ The Great Lost Bear, Portland, ME. Served in a 12 oz. chalice. Hazy gold with amber type hue. The head died to a small ring around the glass. Light lacing. I can still remember the Allagash yeast smell. This brew indeed has that type yeast with a spicy, peppery hop that shows a strong amount of citrus. They did a great job with making a fine marriage of Belgian yeast and Simcoe hops. As it gets to room temperature it does give off more malt and the hops taste more grassy then the initial citrus. Medium-bodied and very well carbonated. The texture is crisp with a light bitter finish. I can see how this may not be as good in a bottle. Especially if it sits for any long length in time. Best consumed fresh.
My100th rating from the State of Maine!!
