3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beershine (4702) - The Sunshine State, USA - OCT 3, 2008
Hazy melon color with fine, rich lattice work. Happy hoppy aroma with some light pineapple, orange peel, fir, lemon zest and Orval harmonics. I never want this nose to end. Low carbonation. Soft mouthfeel but sticky finish. Flavors are incongruous with aromas: are sweeter and maltier than the hoppy intro led me to believe. Complex, intriguing flavor profile. Starts pretty sweet and jammy with notes of nectarine, plum pudding, and caramel. Then it suddenly rises to a dry, rindy perch before settling back into a comfortable sweet cushion. Not disappointing by any means but would have really loved more lingering hops, a less sticky finish, and a dryer overall experience. Still, a good brew.

Pours a clear golden straw color with an effervescent white head and some light lacing. Aroma is pale malt and hops. Taste is light and crisp with some hop bitterness. Wouldn’t search this out again but it’s decent.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Steve_0 (201) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 15, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 18, 2012 Bottle, corked and caged. Poured a murky, deep amber, that looks like thick caramel syrup. Smell is sweet caramel, raisins, plums, brown sugar, and light Alcohol. Taste follows suit, with touches of sweet malt, bread, brown sugar, big raisins, and a light alcoholic burn on the finish. Mouthfeel is very syrupy, with low carbonation. Reminds me of a messy English barley wine. Overall, very sweet and malt forward, not very balanced, but still a decent brew.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 greenhorn1 (586) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - APR 22, 2012
I pulled this out of the cellar, it is at least four years old. I wasn’t expecting it to be fresh, but hot damn, it was very drinkable. Pours a clear orange and a thick like shaving cream head. Tons of lacing and slow large moving bubbles. Aroma is strong and complex, hints of citrus, spice, malt and a bit dank. Flavor perks you up, very similiar to aroma. You can taste the pine and orange peel. Subtle hop bite and ABV well hidden. Very pleased with this one.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 KajII (461) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - APR 17, 2012
Bottle. The pour was a murky medium golden amber with a large (2-3 finger) white rocky head that lasted throughout and had some really good streaky lacing.
The aroma was of a strong pale grain malt, pine and grassy hops and a musty cobweb yeast with notes of citrus (lemon and grapefruit), apricot and a bit of coriander.
The taste was a tad bitter from the word go, with a mild apricot sweetness and then progressed into an extreme hoppy taste with a big citrus note and a nice dose of spice at the end. The flavor hung on for a good long time with a good strong hoppy spicy ending.
Mouthfeel was somewhere between light and medium in body with a very pronounced dry texture and a nice prickly carbonation.
Overall this brew is a hop lover’s Belgian dream. Got to give it up to this brewer once again, seems everything they brew is quite tasty...
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MrChopin (2213) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Draft at Publican. Transparent honey, typically foamy, puffy white Allagash head, lacing everywhere. Nose is Allagash esters, dusty yeast and paper, a bit toasty, markedly bitter. Flavor is apricot and peach from hops, very peel-like, heavy yeast and dry bitterness, a little too frothy which leads to muted profile and full feeling, but still rather balanced, dry, and lightly hoppy.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tastybeer (1045) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Draft. Pour is light copper/gold with a nice white head, good retention/lacing. Aroma of lemon, floral/grassy hops, fruity esters, fresh bread. Taste is moderately bitter, grassy/floral hops, lemon, spicy yeast, bread. Palate is soft, somewhat creamy, moderately bitter. Nice take on a BPA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Shag (2283) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - NOV 19, 2011
A cloudy yellow appearance with a frizzy? White head. Aroma contains some perfume, spices, oranges, dishwashing soap, coriander. Flavor has IPA traits with some bitter pine, orange peel, and grapefruit. Then here comes the sour, like a sour ex to punch you in the face with sourness. I like sour and bitter but they seem to comine into a transfomer called Unpleasentron. Allagash did good on the style, I just don’t care for the style.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 stangger (515) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2011
On tap at the iron abbey. Simcoe hops in the aroma. Bitter, citrus, followed by sweetness. It’s one dimensional and kind of overrated
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Spookgolds (236) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2011
On draft at iron abbey beer dinner. Aroma of hops and some lemon zest. Tastes of citrus and hops. Pretty good.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 blipp (3889) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - NOV 14, 2011
Draft. Pours orange with a white head. Bright citric and lemony aroma, with spicy yeast and floral hops. The flavor has spicy yeast and bright citric and floral hops, with light lemony notes and a light sweetness. I thought Citra hops, but I can see from the description I was wrong. Either way, this was a winner in my book.
