COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The base of the beer includes English two-row malt and pale crystal malts, establishing an understated sweetness. To give Hugh Malone its hop character we use generous portions of Simcoe hops at three points in the brewing process. To begin with, we use a technique referred to as first wort hopping, in which Simcoe is added to the sweet wort as it enters the kettle. When the wort comes to a boil in the kettle we add Warrior hops, adding another layer to the bitterness of the beer. Later in the brewing process we steep a large amount of Simcoe in the whirlpool to impart a distinct hop aroma. Finally, during secondary fermentation in our conditioning tanks, we dry hop the beer, which instills a hoppy aroma with notes of pine and grapefruit. This 8.5 % ABV ale has a malty palate and a pronounced bitterness. It has a pleasant dry, hoppy finish. Original Gravity: 1080 by volume. Recommended Serving Temp: 45 degrees to 50 degrees F. Recommended Cellaring Temp: 55 degrees F

On tap at the wonderful Brickstore Pub in Decatur,Ga. Delicate and sweet malts accompanying notes of light fruit are joined by an explosion of pungeant hops. Really solid offering. I gotta say from my experience all beer tastes a little better here.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a bright golden color with a large foamy white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dryish and bitter with floral and perfumey hops and hints of dust and must. The flavor was dryish and bitter with perfumey, herbal and floral hops and hints of dust and chalk. Medium length finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Very nice citrus hop aroma. Flavor is malty. Slightly sweet from the Belgian yeast? Well balanced with a dry bitter finish. Some solid citrus hops in there, but a very bitter finish too. Piney, but not sticky or too sweet. Very balanced and enjoyable beer. Not too heavy but lots of flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

. fluffy white everlasting head on a pale orange beer. it started out with a nice floral hoppy boquet with some underlying malt sweetness and a touch of yeast. the bottle conditioning give it a nice full mouthfeel too. at closer to fridge temp, the hops dominate the malt, with a dry bitter finish only hinting at the belgian undertones. as it warms, the yeasty characteristics come out as much as the hops, making it a cool beer to drink through each phase. Quite good - if it were cheaper, I’d get it all the time."

Has a nice white head that recedes leaving lacing and a thin layer of foam on the liquid. Aroma is definitely what you’d expect from the Simcoe hops and is enjoyable. The Taste of the beer puts it in competition with other top tier Belgian IPAs but it doesn’t quite beat out many of the others the others. The mouth feel is medium bodied and the carbonation is persistent. Overall I’d say that this is a quite decent Belgian IPA that is in a league with many others, but I’d not say I prefer found anything about it that would make it stand out from others i’ve had.

Great smell on top. Hazy golden pour with good head and lacing. Great mix with floral perfume and bitter finish evened out by Belgian yeast. Light sweet finish. Tap at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont.

Nice head that stays. Pale, golden color and slight hoppy aroma. Easy to drink, this has an almost sweet but hoppy flavor. Bitter finish but can taste fruity yeast. Nice play, Belgian IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

@ Greens Discount / Columbia SC --- Cloudy medium amber with a thick puffy 1" head, sheet of lace that drops back into the drink. Taste is caramel malt that is quickly eclipsed by medium citrus hops. Glimmers of malt continue to show, but hops push right through the finish. Interesting brew, not exactly a Belgian Ale, but quite drinkable. This bottle says 7.3% abv.

Draft sample from Crossroads Spirits. Pours a clear golden orange color with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, light spices, and lots of sweet fruitiness. Taste also has that Belgian yeast and spice characteristic, but not overpowering, with notes of old citrus fruit and pine as well.

Draft @ Lucky Dog w Erica. Tulip. 1.5-finger white head. Aroma of fresh hops and yeast, not too "Belgian" ... Tastes the same, fresh hop and herbal notes that blend really well. 8.5% booze hidden extraordinarily well. Easy-drinking Belgian.
