Commercial Description:
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

Deep amber, huge head, great lace. Just looks wonderful. Nose of apricots and orange blossom, bread and Belgian yeast. Taste is orange and grapefruit, bread and yeast, red wine and oak, spice and orange again, with a long fruity finish. This aged wonderfully. Good big Belgian mouth.

Pours an amber hue. Aroma is big fruit with a bit of citrus and yeast included as well. The taste itself is a roller-coaster ride from fruit to spice to yeast to malt to a slight, slight alcoholic finish. An outstanding beer.

One whiff of this amber hued ale and you know you’re in for a wild drink. The barnyard funkiness of the Brettanomyces practically leaps into the nose. There’s also many a fruity scent - peaches & nectarines, berries, orchard fruit. The very thought of drinking this rather than just sniffing it seemed anticlimactic. Luckily, the flavor’s not a let-down. The aforementioned are joined by white peppers, alcohol, and a touch of lemon zest, all smoothly blended together. Very fine ale.

Hazed peach body with a modest beige head. Seductive aroma hints of fruitiness as soon as the cork is removed. Notes of green apple, red grapes, kiwi, and strawberries are joined by oak tones and some subtle spices. Nice! Medium to light medium in body with zingy carbonation. Taste opens on a spicy note with a touch of hot alcohol. Brett notes quickly appear with a wet gravel taste and some funky wool. Underripe strawberry and kiwi provide fruit texture. Oak is subtle but noticed. Lemon pez candy and kiwi skin come back for the finish and aftertaste. Incredibly complex and one of the better efforts at an American wild ale.

The Dan Journal #80. Tasted 4/11/2007. 750ml bottle. 2007 Vintage. Dark golden honey hue. Large layer of off-white head. Flemmish sour nose. But sweeter. Younger? Tart apples and citrus. An unbalanced burn. Cocoa and earthy aromas. Full bodied with flavors of tart cherries. Big beer, but good drinking.

Appears a hazy, russett toned crimson with a small white head that slowly fades out. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of light oak, vanilla, tart apples, melons, mild pineapple, earthiness, and citrus. Taste mimics the aromas with light cherries found among the flavors. Mouthfeel is sweet up front with honey and booze hanging on during the dry finish.

Bottled. Dark yellow colour, low, very low head. Pale malty aroma with brettanomyces, that gives acidity. Brett is prominent in flavour as well, with pale malty flavour and a soft, delicate mouthfeel. Lots of candi. Hints of berries.
