Commercial Description:
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

2007 bottle. This hazy orange ale poured with a modest off-white head and a malty fruit aroma. The flavor is sweet and tart, with a more bitter hoppy finish. There is a highly carbonated mouthfeel and the body is a bit thin. I suspect it would improve with a couple years of aging - still, it is a worthy drink now.

Pours a cloudy medium brown color with a small foamy with some big bubbles, off-white head. The aroma is tart grapes and some sweet Sirah notes. Starts off with a mild funkiness that seems to supress a lot of the tar fruity flavors that are so well hidden in the flavor. Dry, oaky finish.

Shared bottle of 2007 vintage at Coastal Wine Connection’s beer club. Deep golden, slightly yeasty wtih just a bare head. Interesting complex aroma ... since I was told this was aged in merlot barrels, I get the wine in the flavor, although I may have called it a woodsy thing otherwise. Group consensus was this came across with an almost Flemish sour character, with an almost salad-dressing sweet tart aspect, dry, acidic, complex and yummy. (#2964, 6/7/2007)

Københavnske Øldage 07. Copper-red with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has clear notes of yeast, light sweetness and citrus. The flavour also has clear notes of yeast, light sweetness, a hint of wood, fruit and citrus. the finish is dry with strong notes of grapefruit. 2124

Shared bottles thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Vintage 2007 pours hazy orange gold, off-white head. Aroma is merlot, blue cheese, slight acetone. Flavor is creamy blue cheese, merlot, slightly sour tangy fruit. Total score would be a 3.4. Vintage 2005: same appearance as 2007. Aroma is slightly tangier. Flavor is merlot, blue cheese, woodsy, yet not as creamy and no acetone trace. Total score: 3.5.

Bottle, 2007, 9.5% at KØ07. Acidic and vinous aroma. Hazy dark orange colour. Small white head. The flavour is not as acidic as suggested by the aroma, but nice with some earth. Peppery aftertaste. Actually well-balanced in my opinion.
