Allagash Interlude

Pours a cloudy light golden amber color with a thin white head that quickly fades and some visible bubbly carbonation. Aroma is funky with lots of sour oak, with some dark cherry, strawberry, vanilla and hop notes. Very funkt and tart oaky flavor with plenty of hops and crisp apple and strawberry fruit flavor. Nice balanced and very quaffable. Excellent.

January 2007 vintage. Sweet malty aroma. Slightly sour with hints of oak. Cloudy light orange color with a large airy head that dissipates. Mild sweet taste in the beginning that develops a tart bitter middle. Light alcohol at the end. Light palate.

August 2008 Bottle. Sour aroma, apples, pears, almost like a cider at first. Fruity and very interesting aroma. Clear copper appearance with a thin white lace. Complex flavour of apples, pears that seap through the acidic nature of this beer. Slightly sweet. Hints of oak. The beer was a year old and I feel would mature nicely. Maybe I should have waited. As the beer warms I get oranges and fine malts. Nice beer but not one of my favourites.

Cask at GBBF09. Alround rating: Grainy lightly buttery malt, tart, plums and vious fruits, the barrel aging off the wine is key, but i guessed white with rather than red. Good stuff.

Cask @ GBBF’09. Hazy dark golden with barely no head but a thin veil. Strong and nice funky nose, vinous, wood and frui with some alcoholic hints. Flavour is sweet caramel, fruity with a lovely sourness, woody. A very nice brew indeed.

Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense GBBF 09. A hazy brown, headless beer. The aroma is sour and vinuous with good strong alcohol notes. The taste is the same with yeasty notes. Some orangey fruits and bretty notes.

Pours a darker gold amber with little to no head. On the nose I am getting lots of different things such as toffee, some caramel there, candied fruits and a hint of the alcohol there as well. Full bodied beer. On the palate I get a tart sour taste upfront flavor with malts, candied sugars, various subtle fruit nuances and a sugar feel there as well. Hard to really go into much more with this one, I liked it but definitely different to me.

Cask @ GBBF 2009. A little hazy, light brown colored beer, almost no head. The aroma is a little sour with wood. There are fruits and some hops. The taste is woody with a little sour. There are fruits like citrus. In the aftertaste the sour and wood flavors, moves over to light bitter with some sweet.
