Pours a medium dark copper, and really cloudy. Smell and taste is a lot like a Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga (The Firefly). Sour fruits with a crisp finish. buerckholtz (33), asheville, North Carolina, USA

Poured in a goblet, aroma hits you from across the room, no need to stick you nose in the glass on this one! Big fruit, spice and brett on the nose. Flavor was cidery, they must have used a but load of sugar in this one, also oak, red wine, barnyard funk, brett, finishes dry. I liked this one, thought I found that the strong cider flavor took away from this beer. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

Mellow taste, much more mild than I expected. No alcohol presence. Interesting to try but would not buy again. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

It pours a cloudy orange with a nice lasting white head. Smell is oak and tart fruits. The aroma is very pleasing actually. Taste is mellow funk with some spicy notes comming in before the fruitiness of pears come in. I liked this stuff alot and will buy again if I can find it. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2007 My favorite of the barrel aged beers from Allagash that i’ve tried. Some of the others have had too much oak character and they taste like you are drinking beer out of a freshly cut oak mug, this one was a bit more subtle, but the oak was still plenty strong. Pours golden orange with a soapy white head. Dry and spicy with an intersting winey note. I don’t taste much of the bretts, not much dry earthy funk, but a light sour quality shows in the finish. Notes of apple and pear go well with the winey flavor. Dorwart (1812), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2007 (2005 Vintage) Good sized offwhite head of big fluffy bubbles. Reduces kind of quickly but has good carbonation to keep a thin wisp of foam on the surface. Tart and wet red oak aroma. Some fruit (sour cherries) and some light and crisp grassy notes. Hint of sharp and stinky cheese. Color is a bright reddish orange. Light crisp and tart with a succulent fruity flavor (definate vinuous notes) that makes the mouth salivate. More wet red oak and sourness. Sourness lasts through late swallow and leaves with a distince ethanol flavor. Quite strong actually and a little overpowering. A very good belgian that is kind of a mix between a golden belgian strong ale and a flemmisg sour ale. Kind of has the better qualities of both. Another top class brew from Allagash.
