Commercial Description:
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

(2005 Vintage) Good sized offwhite head of big fluffy bubbles. Reduces kind of quickly but has good carbonation to keep a thin wisp of foam on the surface. Tart and wet red oak aroma. Some fruit (sour cherries) and some light and crisp grassy notes. Hint of sharp and stinky cheese. Color is a bright reddish orange. Light crisp and tart with a succulent fruity flavor (definate vinuous notes) that makes the mouth salivate. More wet red oak and sourness. Sourness lasts through late swallow and leaves with a distince ethanol flavor. Quite strong actually and a little overpowering. A very good belgian that is kind of a mix between a golden belgian strong ale and a flemmisg sour ale. Kind of has the better qualities of both. Another top class brew from Allagash.

Pours cloudy amber with an off white, mostly diminishing head. Slighlty sour wine flavors.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. This is my favorite Allagash beer. Pours a cloudy orange color with a big bubbled roustabout head. Amazing think about this beer is that it has just about every aroma and flavor in the book. The version I had was called Kriek Interlude and had the requisite cherry infusion. Lots of tannins and wine flavors to boot. Complex with some tripel characteristics, this one is hard to taxify.

2006. Gold in color to the point of being orange, slightly hazy, lots of fat bubbles rising through the body, and a bone-white head that colladsed quickly. Nose is definite Brett...lots of bubblegum but somewhat unidimensional in that sense. Flavor has the Brettanomyces overtones of the aroma but with a nice, honey-like malt base and some definite clay-like earthiness not unlike a good red wine that shows its terroir.

Ross has a little beer boner for this stuff. He found a good deal on it and I got this thing in a trade. So for 700, I thought I would celebrate the Bears NFC Championship with this one. Pours a hazy orange amber with a nice retentive white head with gold hues. Tons of carbonation bubbles stick to the glass. Aroma of yeast, clove, brett, apple, with a little oak in the background. More alcohol comes out in the aroma as it warms. Boy, the texture is very soft and thin, but it works in the beers favor because it allows more flavors to come forward. Organic flavors of yeast, apple, honey, and clove. All of those flavors are balanced by a subtle and pleasant tartness. The soft oak woodiness comes out on the finish, joined by some faint bitterness and a touch of warming alcohol. This is a great beer, and very easy to drink. 2006 bottle. My wife liked this one too. Thanks Ross....dick!

This is one of the most peculiar yetr amazing beers I have ever had. I read quite a few reviews going into this, and yet I’m still perplexed by this beer. It poured an overly attractive amber/pumpkin with beautiful a white head and soft steady lacing. The smell is truffels, champagne, slight alcohol permeate heavily with this beer. The taste is sweet and sour with grapes, slight honey, mushrooms, wood, like a muscato di’ asti. This beer is a king in it’s class, absolutely enigmatic and amazing all at the same time.

A very delightful sour beer. Very refreshing to drink one. Two would be over the top though. Deep golden color. Huge frothy head. Hard to find out west as it no longer is on the local beer shelves. Saved this bottle for well over a year so it had some time to age. The wild belgian yeast had a good amount of time to do its work.

Bottle shared by OhioDad, thanks! Pours golden with a off white head. Aroma of brett, sour, yeast, oak, and a tinge of vanilla. Flavors present were yeast, sour, lemon zest some oak and caramel. Light body with a lively carbonation and a sour finish. Pretty nice stuff!
