Commercial Description:
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

2005 vintage 750 mL bottle via trade with beastiefan2k. Pours bright copper with a small fizzy off-white head, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (straw, bread, meal), average hops (fruit, lemon, citrus), average yeast (dough, earth, must) with notes of oak, tart green fruit and honey. Light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness, average duration; tart citrusy fruit and musty oak, straw malt flavor, hint of alcohol. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation and a metallic finish.

Persistant creamy head. Very interesting aroma, a harmony of the Brett and wine barrels, a bit reminicent of a lambic. Quite flavorful yet light. Very nice.

A cidery aroma and appearance, something Cantillon. Some lace. But more enjoyable on the palate, malt and incredibly subdued from being wild and funky. Wine and woody taste, an easy drink, far better accompanied by food. Spicy and herbal. Not sweet,

I got this in trade a while ago but I can’t remember who it came from.. It was either porterhouse or hopdog I think.. Either way thanks! - Pours amber with a short offwhite head and lots of lace. Aromas of yeast, good caramel sweetness a touch of oak and some definite brett. Flavor is oak, brett, caramel, and some dusty notes. Good carbonation soft mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer!

Rating #700 Murky amber body with a small off-white head. The aroma is horsey, pineapple, grapefruit, bread and oak. The flavor is heavy handed on the oak and vanilla, bread, pear and apple. Medium/light body with lively carbonation, very dry with a tart finish. The only thing holding this beer back is the over barreling of the beer.

Bottle: Gold, nice head and lacing. Nose of fresh spicy orange and pilsner malt. Nice herbal character. The flavor is strong, nice alcohol, creamy malting with sweetness and a nice hop overtone. Very nice balanced belgian style.

2006 bottle: apple skins, grapes, light citrus hops, oak, brett, spices, alcohol. Not as smooth as I remember it in 2005, but still a decent BSA and a nice offering from Allagash. Maybe this would be better in a couple years? Seems kinda hot right now. A little over-priced, but I bought it anyway.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head leaving some laces. Lightly tart and orangey aroma with a piquant touch of Brett. Medium body with lightly sweet and fruity notes and a discreet and enticing acidity. Quite refreshing. 011206
