oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Aug 11, 2009 Cask@GBBF2009. Deep amber colour with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is slight brett along with fruits, wood and some slight berryish notes. Flavour is wooden sourness, some brett and also mild caramel malts and yeast in it. Very pleasantly sweetish sour brew. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 7, 2009 Cask, GBBF 09. Hazy dark amber with a thin head. Aromas are floral, spicy and medicinal with toffee malts. Some citrus and vinegar. Flavours are sour and medicinal with some woody notes. Toffee and caramel malts with yeast and vinegar sourness. Sweet pear fruitiness, too. Lots of warming alcohol on the finish. Decent. RPillsbury (112), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Aug 7, 2009 Cask at the GBBF 2009. I tried this beer early on at the festival as I was worried that it might run out and I’ve always wanted to try it. I think this was my mistake since I found it completely overwhelming. The aroma was sour-smelling with some cranberry and it appeared a bit dingy in colour. The flavour was really overpowering of sweet taffy, cherries and sourness. I thought I detected some cinnamon. It had an okay finish. RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Aug 6, 2009 Cask@GBBF, 2009. Light brown/dark bronze beer with a small head. The aroma is lightly sour fruit, and the flavour is bready, bitter and lightly sour. Overall a palatable gently sour and yeasty beer. hughie (3018), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 6, 2009 Cask, gravity, at GBBF ’09. American Beer of the Festival for me. Hazy copper colour. Sour woody aroma, but the taste is beguilingly sweet and fruity with slight astringency. Some dryness. This was the beer I wanted at that moment: full of alcohol but intensely approachable and friendly. TBone (6678), Pori, Finland Aug 5, 2009 Cask@GBBF.
A bit murky amber color, not much head. Sour grapefruit nose. Very tart, grapefruit, lime, some strawberries too. Intensive beer. Nice alcoholic, a bit sweet, tart and hoppy aftertaste.
evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Aug 5, 2009 Draught at GBBF 2009. A hazy red ale with a slight head. Oak, fruity, sour taste/aroma. I was guzzling Allagash beers almost daily during my vacation in Maine a few years back but this one is not really my thing. drfabulous (1213), Columbia, Missouri, USA Aug 4, 2009 2008 bottle. Oh man. This is a lovely reddish ale with just a touch of sour. Wine-ish taste. Cherry lingers. Sugar candy in the background. Lots of oak. Fantastic.
