Commercial Description:
Interlude- somewhere between the leap and the landing. It’s a jazz solo, the riffing, the unexpected improvisation. Rooted in a Belgian theme, Interlude soars from a second fermentation with our own Brettanomyces yeast. Then takes five in French oak wine barrels that once cellared fine Merlots and Sirahs. And then bottle conditioning. In all, an outrageous effort to make a bottle of beer. But then, if you prefer to swing with magnificent red wine notes and funky farmhouse flavors dancing in the undercurrents of a crisp, remarkable brew, then Interlude has that thing. C’est le gout, toujours! It’s the taste that is always an adventure.

Pouring from a cask at BCTC. Pours a hazy near still brown with a thin white head. Sweet caramel and light brett on the nose. Light wine notes. Light bitter cherry finish. This stuff was unbelievably tasty.

2008 bottle. Pours orange with beige head. The aroma is obvious oak with some slight brett, some peach, yeast, and a few peppery hints. The flavor is also quite oaky with some pepper and farminess. Peach and toast notes are in there, too, as is a bit of a dry vinous note. The finish is pleasingly dry. Quite a good beer.

Draft. A very good beer just not what I was looking for. Orange/Red in color with a decent head that faded rather quick. Aroma was just sour which had me very excited. The taste wasn’t nearly as sour as I expected with the aroma but it seemed to change on me every sip. I tasted cherry, lime, lemon, sweetness, strawberry, maybe some caramel or something along those lines and some others I couldn’t put a finger on.

Bottle@Home, shared with my 17y old son who loved it as well! Citrus, oak and leather aroma. Orange/amber colour, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, bit citric, citrus, oak, leather, hint of licorice. Sticky and warming. Complex, well balanced, flavourful.

’07 bottle thanks to BanditBrewingCO (BA)
Beautiful beer, glowing amber with legs galore, the foamy beige head lasting and lasting. Beautiful sour nose, reaching across the room with harmonious balance in fruit and brett: vinous berries, melon/kiwi, lemon, sweat, some minor lacto, and yeast. The flavor isn’t as sweet, showing yeast, more wine less fruit, slight sugar and caramel (into the finish). Dry body, the carbonation gets a little in the way, making it slightly fizzy like RR’s Temptation, yet the finish is longer and balanced. Incredible finesse in this one, a world class blend of flavors.

I’ll be the first to admit, that I think Allagash is vastly overrated compared to the price cost per bottle. This bottle though is fanfreakin’tastic. Fantastic sour aroma with funky bretty goodness. Oaky, green apples, Zours, with a rich fruit cocktail aroma too. Flavor has a superb sweet/sour/acidic complexity with oak, tropical fruits, dust, nougat with a touch of rum raisins.

2006 Bottle shared with KW crew, thanks to my pillaging of Howgtown Harry’s Cellar. Dark orange, small white head. Great aroma - sour, malty, spicy. Great taste - m0re sourness and malt, nice soft body really accentuates the spices. Funky awesome stuff.
