4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer was enough to bring me out of hibernation, for the time being, at least. I enjoy wine, though I’m not a connoisseur, so this beer was wonderful to me. The appearance is innocent looking -- innocuous -- with a quickly dispersing head and a bright, inviting ruby-tan color. It’s kind of the color of tanned leather. The aroma has a lambic quality, with some cherry sourness and hints of the Syrah from the barrels used to age the beer. Very winey. The flavor is bright, but rich. It’s a little like a cross between a sauvingon blanc (bright, crisp, peary) or champagne and a merlot (oaky, rich, serious). There are still beer qualities, though, especially with the yeastiness that you don’t find as much in wine. The palate is crisp. The beer dances across the tongue like a bright white wine or champagne. There’s a little bit of pear and sauvingnon blanc in the palate, as well. It’s nicely balanced and lovely. Mmmmm.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gorgeous caramel color, slightest hint of sour yeast on the nose. Palate is slightly sour lemon, evolving into pear, hints of caramel and toasted oak underneath. Long finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours is cloudy dark orange red, fizzy thin white head, gone quickly. Nose is raspberry, oak, brett funk. Taste brings raisins, tart cherry, more oak, hints of vanilla/caramel. Reasonably sweet with mild tartness. Quite nice, and really complex, but I’d prefer more sour and less oak. But that is just personal preference--it is beautifully executed.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012 Interlude draft @ Midway Pub. Loads and loads of brett here. Lots of fruitiness. Oak, sweet. belgian yeast, tid bit funky, caramel. Ok. But I have come to learn that I am not a huge fan of just brett.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
light amber-gold with a dusting of medium coarseness white head. Aroma is tart raspberry and cherry, a touch of pickle and a hint of horse and moderate citrus, but not in the hoppy way. Body is medium-medium-light, oily, (surprisingly heavy given the style.) Flavor is that taste that’s leftover in your mouth after you’ve had orange juice, tart cherry, light grass. a short pulse of crisp bitterness electrifies the back/sides of my palate in the finish. Nice. Nothing amazing. I wish I didn’t have a (mild) cold so I could see if I was missing anything... Definitely on the tart side. The wine barrels make it reminiscent of something that’s not here... cool!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014 vintage. Pours a hazed orange color with a small white head. Aromas of wine and funk, some apple. Taste is semi sweet and lightly sour, some funk. Flavors of tart green apple, wine barrel, some sweaty brett. Finish is semi sweet and gently tart. Decent.

2015.03.29 - Allagash Interlude 2014 - on tap at Always Ron's.
No long review. Drinkable but not my cup of tea. If the dominant taste is from the Brett then I may not be a Brett fan.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

Backlog. On tap at the Mellow Fellow in Truckee. Orange and clear appearance with a fully diminishing head. Funky yeast, fruity esters, mild tartness and Belgian notes. Medium to full body. Pretty fun to drink.

On tap at threes brewing in Brooklyn. Slightly spicy on the nose. Pours a nice dark Amber. Intensely fruity but also sour with a nice finish. Good. A bit overly fruity.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from trade - thanks Blazay. Clear burnt amber in the glass, initially a big white head but doesn’t linger. Funky, estery yeast character coming off it - vinous, leathery, fruity - stone fruit, some raisins. Medium to light carbonation. Flavour is lightly tart, a big hum of honey, some oxidisation evident but not unpleasant, tropical fruit, pineapple, passion fruit but only very lightly, a touch of vanilla. A slightly tannic edge from the wood brings everything to a dry finish. The strength is there in the background but just adds to the beer. Complex and delicious
