Oddly enough, I rate this beer at a 4 even though I rate the aroma, appearance, taste and palete lower (mid-scale). You have to understand something about this beer BEFORE you drink it. If you don’t you will lose all respect for what the brewer was trying to accomplish. First, let me say that you will be overwhelmed by a fierce acidity in bitterness, tartness and absolute vinegar essences. DO NOT LET THAT THROW YOU. I was privy to a tasting with a rep from the brewery who prepared us for the experience and I can say that without that, I would have pitched it in the sink claiming it to be rancid. However, much like a good balsamic vinegar, this beer does have characteristics of its own to be appreciated. Yes, I said vinegar, and a little salty but once past that, you do taste the berry and raisin and malt as well as the contributions the yeast add. Do try this but remember what I said earlier.

375 ml bottle in a trade with Eric S. Bottle has a date of Feb, 25 2015. Nice clear ruby in color very thin head. Aroma shows raspberries, cherry pie filling and tannic oak. Wow...

The beer is balanced well between raspberries and sharp oak barrel. Very mild yeast and Berry pie filling in the center with a sharp oak finish. Mild lactic acid and a moderate pucker after the finish. In the past year I have been drinking a lot more Sour/ wild ales and come to find a big disparity in quality. Almost no vinegar notes in this which is GREATLY appreciated. For my overall impression of this.... Again I say wow!

Bottle. Colour...very light amber with a thin white head. Nose...berry, berry raspberry with acetic notes and some hints of vulcanized rubber ( in a good way). Palate...bright and tangy with raspberry purée and a cassis scented hint. The mid palate is clean and acetic with raspberry sweets and berry jello. The finish is long and tart .
