Commercial Description:
Musette is Allagash's next release in its Barrel Aged Series. It is Allagash's interpretation of a Belgian-inspired Scotch Ale. Following fermentation with a Belgian strain of yeast, a portion of it is aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels for an additional three months.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle brewed in May of 2006. Pours a thick deep/dark amber with a good consistency. The head is reasonably thick, creamy, breaks down fairly quickly, dirty white in color. The aroma is sweet, thick, rich, alcohol dryness, not as deep as the flavor. The flavor is strong, hot alcohol, crisp cool carbonation, definite Belgian earthy notes, oak evident, vanilla, expected more bourbon notes. The palate is very nice, crisp cool, but very harsh alcohol. The finish is warming.

Chestnut colored with a large head ending in very luscious lacing and froth. Aroma of straw, caramel, & banana. Yeasty flavors of banana and cream with a silky, creamy mouthfeel. End is long with continuous notes of cream.

Bottled. Hazy amber colour with off-white head. Cream and toffee in aroma, along with yeast. Lots of yeast. Pretty dry and bitter for o Scotch Ale, with bitter yeast backbone flavourwise. Big on low alpha hops I believe,

750 ml. bottle bottled in 2006, opened 7/5/07. This poured out a hazy amber with a very respectable white head and some decent lace. Oaky aroma quite evidnet, and I like that. There is also a vinous cahracter and some dark fruit esters that are nicely integrated. Body is medium, carboantion is light, and the palate has a slight stickiness. Sweet toffee flavors, and an almost sherry like finish that is mildy sweet are nicely matched. This was very enjoyable, especially if you are partial to oaky flavors.

75 cl bottle. Somewhat cloudy amber color, nice beige head. Malty cork aroma, vanilla notes and some nuts. Malty, yeasty flavor, spicy, woody and with nutty notes.
