Brought a bottle to Fralo’s in Leon Springs. Hazy dark brown with whitish head. Oak, vanilla, caramel and some roasted malts. Toffee malts and spices (allspice, nutmeg)....with carbonation that dances on the tongue. Drying finish...with a bit of an ashen taste.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2007 Flaske. Meget speciel oplevelse.

Cloudy orange beer with a frothy beige head. Aroma of spices, oak, yeast, cooked fruit. Medium body with ample carbonation. Flavor was less a Scotch ale than a Belgian and left me greatly disappointed.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2798) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUL 19, 2007
Pours bronze with a thick dense beige head that had nice retention. The aroma has lots of oak, tight caramel malt, light sweetness, dry vanilla, smooth spices and toasted / roasted aspects. Medium body with a smooth syrupy feel with a decent semi-sharp carbonation. The taste has a beautiful blend of scotch ale and oak that is very even. The oak dries out a lot of the cloying effect of many scotch ales while still displaying a strong malt presence. There is some light spiciness as well. The finish is rich, yet somewhat dry, with hefty toffee malt. This hides the 10% alcohol very well. As it warms the spices seem along the allspice / cinnamon line and the Belgium yeast starts coming out. A very good and complex brew.
