Yoghurty taste with an aggressive something that might be bitterness but I can’t decypher it. Ok fruity maltiness. A respectable beer but I really didn’t dig it. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2008 August 2006 bottle. Deep copper color with a big, frothy beige head. Nose has noticable oak, with some vanilla and alcohol. Subtle oak in the flavor, with dark fruit, caramel sweetness, and a touch of smoke. A very interesting take on a Scotch Ale, and I find it more Belgian that Scotch. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA

Alcohol is really present in the nose, as evident in the vanilla and toasted oak, perhaps even a bit of coconut. Sweet smoky maltiness, with some caramel and earthy spiciness. Someting I would drink all the time, if I had all the money in the world to spend on beer.
