The aroma is sweet and very spicy - though I can’t name any individual spices. The flavor is also very spicy and it reminds me a lot of a Belgian Ale, but it also has notes of berries and fruit, and of the spices I pick out cloves, and somewhere there’s just a touch of brettanomyces. The end has a light woody note combined with bourbon. This beer really confuses me - so much is going on at the same time. Papsoe (14883), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2007 (Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a creamy, beige head. Vinous, alcoholic nose. Medium body with some caramel, fruity notes and then an almost roaring alcohol. Not particularly balanced. Once again Allagash fails to impress me. 120507 omhper (12171), Stockholm, Sweden

Woody and full flavoured with some caramel and floral strawberries. Intense. An American version of a Belgian version of a Scottish beer... yespr (12020), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 24, 2008 75 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange to amber with a diminished white head. Light fruity yeasty aroma, sweet and with a mild vanilla note. Quite sweet flavoured. Shows a light yeasy spice note and a mild smothing vanilla oak flavour. Ligh alcohol warming finish. To sweet for my liking although the vanilla oak smoothness suites the beer well. fonefan (11065), VestJylland, Denmark
