Bottled. Hazy amber colour with off-white head. Cream and toffee in aroma, along with yeast. Lots of yeast. Pretty dry and bitter for o Scotch Ale, with bitter yeast backbone flavourwise. Big on low alpha hops I believe,

750 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of toffee, dark fruit, pears and spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of toffee, carmel, spices, apple and a hint of oak with a crisp lingering spiced finish.

Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Bottle 690, May 2006. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small diminishing off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some mild sugary sweetness, light hops and notes of wood. Flavour’s malty along with hops, wood, fruit, light alcohol and brown sugar. For 10% alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied, well carbonated. Pretty good.

750 mL bottle from beastiefan2k, thanks Eugene! Pours mahagony with a tall foamy and creamy tan head that has good staying power, sticky lacing. Aroma is dark wheat, oak malt (hay, straw), yeast (dough), banana, clove and fruit (peach, apricot). Light chocolate and creamy caramel flavor, oak notes, rich malt and yeast body, medium acidity, the alcohol is well hidden although the hoppiness is accentuated by the alcohol. Dark, warm and full bodied, creamy and smooth palate that ends a tad fizzy and slightly dry. A few more years on this one and it would be outstanding.

On tap at Capone’s during the Great Lakes tasting. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a smaller off white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, Fig Newtons, slightly earthy with some oak. Flavor of candi sweetness with hints of oak, vanilla, light alcohol, Belgian yeast, spices and a bit on the hot side.

Draft at Barcade. Aroma is apple and grape. Tart with grape peel and a shitload of bourbon still. This is a real sipper.
