3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thewolf (8621) - Kolding, DENMARK - AUG 25, 2007
Bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. Pours a bubbly deep amber with a beautiful creamy yellowish head. It leaves lots of lacing. Aroma has bread, barn, caramel. There are distant spices as weel, ginger and vanilla. Quite high carbonation. Flavour is nice, woody and very spicy. Nutmeg, vanilla, ginger. Begins sweet, but as it settles, it gains it’s oakyness and a general dryness. Wonderful brew!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Maria (8571) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 7, 2007
Københavnske Øldage 07. Red-golden and the aroma has primarily notes of bourbon, oak and sweetness. The flavour also has the sweetness, the bourbon and oak as the dominating features, but I also pick spices and a light, citrussy bitterness. It’s a well balanced beer - but a bit too much of everything for me... 2123

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bhensonb (7573) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 28, 2007
Bottle from the wine frig. Aroma of something more like fortified wine or whiskey. Caramel, dark fruit, spice, and arguably wood, aromas. Dark amber color with a beige head that softly collapsed. Almost medium body with substantial, smooth, carbonation. The flavor is toffeeish, with some dark fruits, alcohol coming forth, a touch of vanilla, and definitely wood. After a bit it goes a little earthy, and some spice notes are detectable. The finish is quite dry, leaving the mouth puckered. The alcohol leaves, and oak is noticeable - apparently causing the puckering. It seems reasonably complex, and it’s a great tasting ale.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 madsberg (7525) - Søborg, DENMARK - JUL 4, 2007
Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Dense light brown head. Fruits, vanilla, alcohol, sweetness and nuts in the aroma. Flavour as well is nutty and spicy. Has caramel and sweetnotes. Is medium bodied. Dry. Sweetish spiced end, with a warming mouthfeel. Thanks to jjpm74 for this.
